Hi, I’m considering TCNJ Nursing and I’ve heard it’s really competitive. I have a 3.75 GPA and a 1370 SAT although I am retaking it in October. I have had a part time job at a tutoring center for two years, have played club and school soccer both for four years, have started and been a president of a club, and am a member of NHS and a couple other clubs. I’m applying Early Decision I and am nervous that I can’t get in. Can someone who has gotten in share their stats?
Have you looked at Naviance and see what the scores that ED students at your school for TCNJ?
In this thread, it says TCNJ wants a 1300.

Also consider Richard Stockton for nursing.
Have you done any medical/hospital volunteering? If not, I would suggest you start so you know if you like nursing!
@zzzz27
Also take a look at Rowan. They are in-state public, cost of attendance (COA) is slightly lower than TCNJ. They have a relationship with Cooper Medical School and hospital, so there will be exceptional hands on opportunities for medical majors like nursing from the beginning. I graduated from TCNJ but have two kids at Rowan. Rowan also gives very good merit aid, which would likely make the overall cost less for you, and everyone knows avoiding debt is key.
The largest merit I heard of last year from TCNJ was around $8K a year. Rowan was giving 16K or higher. Big savings. Rowan is taught by all professors in smaller size classrooms, just like at TCNJ. Campus is growing and student body size is larger, but not huge.
Also agree with the hospital volunteering. Nurses can have careers in varied fields, not just on the floor at a hospital giving direct care to patients; however it is a basic skill you should feel comfortable with and seeing it as a young person gives you that exposure.
Best of luck!
