Chances at the Lawrenceville and Peddie High School

Hi Guys!

Thank you for taking the time to review the following. Due to a chance to open a door to broader education and opportunities, I am applying to different preparatory high schools. I am an 8th grade female at a current public middle school applying to Lawrenceville and Peddie for the 2017-2018 school year without needing financial aid. I am very aware that these are extremely selective schools, but I want to know if I am in the range of what they are looking for with the following resume. Please be honest. Both schools are terrific in all aspects, and I would love to see whether I can get admitted!

Academics (currently in 2nd Semester):
Honors Geometry/Trigonometry (highest level of math for 8th grade)- 97%
1st Semester~Business and Careers (leadership/entrepreneurship)- 97%
1st Semester~Geometry 8 (required class for all students)- 99%
2nd Semester~ELA Composition (writing)- 98%
2nd Semester~Applied Tech (engineering/programming)- 100%
Science 8- 99%
ELA 8- 97%
Spanish I- 100%
American History 8- 105%

My 6th and 7th middle school years also include all A grades; I am a high honor roll student. My SSAT score is 2091 or 72 percentile (I know this is horrific for these rigorous prep schools).

Extracurriculars in school:
~Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)- 2yrs. I am currently president of this club elected by student body through campaign speech, coordinating different events. I have also fundraised for local charities.
~Odyssey of the Mind- 2 yrs. Last year, we placed 3rd at the Lighthouse Regional Competition with the No-Cycle Recycle problem. Competition this year is March 11.
~The Hound Pound (school store)- 2yrs. I am manager of the school store.
~Spring Track- 1yr. I am starting track this week and am a great runner.

Extracurriculars outside of school:
~Tennis (5 yrs.)- This is my main sport; I play at USTA tournaments in nearby states, currently ranked top 50 in my state and top 100 in the middle states for 14’s.
~Piano (8 yrs.)- I have played Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, etc. and passed the ABRSM Grade 4 piano exam Fall of 2016. I played in different talent shows, and presently composing my original piece.
~Art (5 yrs.)- I can sketch, acrylic/watercolor paint, draw, do mosaics, and sculpt. I have sent my original compositions to the schools.
~Rising Stars Vocal Studio- I love singing and have performed in different shows hosted by the director.

Application:
My interview turned out to be terrific and I have very unique and original essays. My application is thorough and set (I also added artwork and youtube links of my piano music).

Other:
I have a passion for politics, debate, public speaking, writing, reading (especially sci-fi and mythology), and researching (science). I have won the Elks Student of the Month award (1 out of 700 students–12 per year) for October 2016. My design has won the school yearbook back cover in 6th grade.

The admissions decision for the year I’m applying to will be this Friday March 10, 2017. Please let me know whether I stand a chance at either school. Thank you!

I didn’t apply to either of these schools, but I applied to other top boarding schools. Although your scores are below these schools’ averages, you do have good EC’s and also your grades are good: In my opinion, it’s a tossup. I know, that’s not a great response. If you had better scores, I think you would be an admit, so honestly I think that anything could happen. Stay positive! I’m freaking out too, don’t worry

Thank you for your comment! I appreciate it.

No problem!
