Chances at Thornton Schoold of Music at USC

I am a student form the metrowest Boston area. I go to a competitive public high school, one of the tops in the state.

GPA: 3.2 UW 3.7 W

SAT: 650 M, 620 R 660 Wr

I want to get into the music bussiness or piano program at Thornton.

I have taken piano for 12 years, Percussion 8 years

Won MICCA Gold 2005 for percussion quartet
Have competed in numerous competitions for piano
Pit orchestra all four years of high school

BTW how competitive is the marching band?

Your numbers are on the lowish end for USC, but for Thornton, your audition will account for 90% of the admission decision.
That's true for piano, anyway-- I don't really know how decisions are made for the music business program.

Honestly...it is not possible to predict chances for music programs that require an audition. There variables are...the caliber of all those who audition, the number of students auditioning, YOUR specific audition, and the needs of the school re: instrumentation. If you are one of the top students auditioning, you play your "A" audition and not too many others do better than you, and the school needs someone who plays your instrument, you'll likely get accepted.

Just wondering. What competitions have you won for piano?
