Chances at Transferring to an Ivy League

Hey guys, I'm currently a sophomore at a Canadian university studying political science. In my first semester of my freshman year I failed two classes, and got two Ds. Ever since that however, I haven't gotten a grade lower than an A, I have 7 A+s, and 5 As since that after the first semester of my sophomore year, and I plan on keeping the trend going into the next semester. Even with my recent success, it is obvious that those two Fs are killing my GPA. I did score a 2310 on my SATs, a 760 on my French SAT 2, and a 770 on my Math 2. I have completed two separate 8 month internships at an embassy here in Ottawa while going to school and am now looking to transfer during my junior year to an American school. I was wondering what realistic shot I have at the schools I listed below, with my awful first semester of college.

Yale, Columbia, University of Rochester, NYU, UPenn

They do look at upward trends but from what I understand, most ivy league transfer have 3.8+ gpas.

3.8 is on the lower end, I believe. And, other students won’t have a trend because they will have had consistently good grades. Your SATs at this point are almost irrelevant.

Also, most American schools don’t differentiate between A and A+.

I think you have a shot and Rochester and NYU.

No chance at Yale and Columbia, unfortunately.

And I’m not sure about Penn.

Write a very good essay. Apply to all the schools you want to go to, you never know with admissions these days. I’ll say you have a good chance at all the schools.
