I'm entering my Junior year this fall and I'm trying to see where I am right now and what I need to improve on to get into a top school. I'm not going to go into too many specifics but I hope I can paint an accurate picture as to what kind of applicant I am when I'm being looked at by an admissions committee. I'm planning to major in Business/Econ and might possibly minor in Math or International Relations.

About me:
-Live in Maryland, somewhat rural area
-Go to a decent public school, not a top school though (sends 1 or 2 kids to HYPS each year)
-White
-Upper middle class
-Male

Academics:
-4.0 UW GPA
-Valedictorian 1/~375 (As of now but should remain in top 1%) (I'm at a decent public school)
-All classes are Honors/AP, as rigorous as possible.

APs:
World History - 5
Human Geography - 5
Statistics - 5

Next year I take Calc AB and English Language, my school is more conservative towards APs.

SAT:
Currently scoring around 2000 on practice tests but I'm nowhere near done prepping. I know it needs to go up quite considerably. I get very anxious when I don't feel confident about a test.

ECs:
-Violin/Orchestra (I do a TON of this, it's my main EC, won't go into specifics but it's a LOT)
-Exchange trip to China, Chinese Club (I take Chinese as my foreign language)
-Gay-Straight Alliance
-Student Council
-National Honors Society

Leadership:
-Concertmaster/1st-Chair of plenty of orchestras I've participated in
-Student Council Treasurer
-Gay Straight Alliance Vice President (If this makes any difference, I'm gay? lol)
-Student Ambassador (for my exchange program)

I tried to keep things as brief as possible so it may appear like I don't do very much, but I definitely have my time filled and there are plenty of times where I might not be getting home to finish homework until 11:30 at night. My academics are basically as good as anybody else in my school. Because of weighting issues I might drop down to 2nd or 3rd in the class but I can't exactly say. Otherwise I'm the strongest applicant from my school.
