UCI is my first choice school.. and I know my GPA is what's holding me back :(
Should I give up on UCI and set my sights on the lower UC's?

I’m not sure if the UC system looks at you in context of your peers. If so, I think you have a great shot.

But lets say you went to a public high school in Orange County, I would say you would have a reach.

Why would you give up? Don’t set your standards too low…

thanks junshik
I’m just afraid of getting my hopes up and then being disappointed…

BTW- forgot to mention I am in the top 12% of my class.

you have a good shot

How about at UCSB and UCSD?
bumppppppppppppppp

you have a great shot at ucsb, ucsd is a reach, hopefully being Indian helps :)

IMO, sb, irvine, and davis are all relatively similar in terms of getting in or not.

I also wouldn’t say SD is that much harder to get into as opposed to the other ones.

Thanks for the replies funnypunjabi and junshik :)

no problem, hey i am new member just wanted to know how to start a new thread?

your SAT score is impressive, and your GPA isn’t terrible. i think you have a chance at UCI!

Chance me? :)

You have a pretty good chance for Irvine. SAT and EC’s are great. Just keep up the good grades through your Senior year. UCI sent me a supplemental app. and asked for my 1st semester senior year grades, so it could happen to you too.

pal, youre being too modest.

you definitely get in.

Not really sure why tryphie bumped such an old thread… But, looking at the OP’s past posts, she got into ucsb and davis but rejected from uci.
