what schools are safeties, matches, and reaches?

Any idea what you want to do? Major/Career? That might help, simply because UCSD has some programs that top UCLA, and the others are all good at certain things. Personally I think your only real reach would be UCLA, UCSD might not accept you but I doubt it. But what do I know, I won't know til March which ones I got into.

UCSC: Super Safety

Egg where do you live?

allena, i live in irvine

well you should get in everywhere assuming you arent asian. the UC's are inundated by asians (berkeley is close to 25% if my memory serves me like it usually does ;-)). Because the UC's recieve more than a 100,000 applications per year (they collect ALL TOGETHER), they use a numerical system to weight applicants. There are spots reserved for athletes, and other exceptions, but with very high class ranking, and SAT you should get in. I was reading something about the formula they use earlier today. It is something like GPA X 1000 (capped at 4000) + SAT scores + best Math, verbal SAT II. I think they also include class rank in there somehow
