I’m currently at a CSU (yes, I know this affects my chances at UCs since I won’t get priority compared to people from CCs). I know UCSB is pretty competitive, but I still applied because why not.
Major: English
GPA: Currently 3.6 after this fall semester
Work: I have a part-time job on campus as a patient actor. I also work during the summer at a restaurant.
Extracurriculars: I’ve done a ton of community service and participated in some campus clubs.
Essays: Great, but there was a minor typo in one of them.
I would like to add that my GPA is on a pretty strong upward trend. My first semester of college, I failed statistics (oops lol) but I opted for the credit/no credit option so it wouldn’t hurt my GPA. I had a 3.4 that semester, even though it would’ve been like a 3.0 or something had I not C/NC. This fall semester I ended with a 3.74.
I will have all but one of the pre-requisites completed after Spring semester, my university doesn’t offer it but I might try to take it at a community college. This will put me at 65 semester units by the time I transfer.
Even though I applied to other UCs, I would really like to know about UCSB.
