What are my chances of getting into the University of Michigan and the University of Pennsylvania for LSA/Wharton?
ACT: 33
GPA: 4.0 uw/ 4.67w
Leadership: NHS officer, founder/president of STEM club, debate team captain
ECs: Varsity Tennis, Marching Band, NHS, Debate
In state for Michigan.
Can’t comment on UMich, but a 33 is low for UPenn (ACT Composite 33-35 for 25th-75th percentile) and probably very low for Wharton where the scores are reputed to be higher.
@tdy123 made a very good point with your ACT. It’s too low for Wharton and without any substantial ECs that compensate, i would say you have a low chance of getting into Wharton. I think you have a decent shot at LSA since youre instate.
Do you plan on EDing to Penn? Your extracurriculars seem a bit weak and generic especially for Wharton so I am not sure. I do think you have a really good chance at UMich.
What kind of ECs are strong in your opinion? @collegeready33
@woshua In general terms, their ECs are strong but in terms of schools at Penn’s caliber, they tend to want more of a spike in extracurriculars that mirror your interests. Their ECs are good but are a bit basic as most people do all of these activities so they wouldn’t help them stand up.
