Chances at University of WA-Seattle?

Hello, first of all, I’d like to say that I am fully aware that based solely on my raw scores/GPA/extracurricular, I am significantly under qualified. However, I do believe I can earnestly explain my detriments through a strong personal statement (family of 8, moved around all my life, trouble making friends, depression). With that in mind, what are my chances?

Grade: Senior/ Class of 2016
GPA(UW): Currently 3.2.

-Freshman year and Sophomore year averaged around a 3.0. (personal issues)
-Junior year was a 3.9 with two AP classes

SAT: 1840 First Test, 1930 Second, Took it again yesterday, expecting a bit higher

Extracurricular:
-This is probably my weakest area. Unfortunately, my parents needed a lot of help from me (with taking care of my 4 younger siblings) and I could rarely participate in school activities. It also didn’t help that I had to switch schools halfway through high school.

Cross Country- 1 year
Soccer Team- 1 year
DECA- 2 years
Journalism/School paper- 1 year
School “Citizens” Club- 1 year
Business Student of the year (at my school of 1700)
Child caring (not sure if this counts)

Course Rigor:

Honors English/World Studies 9 - A average
Honors English/World Studies 10- B average
AP US History- A average
AP English Language and Composition- A Average

-3’s on both AP exams

Senior Schedule:

German 2
AP Physics
AP US Government
AP Calculus AB
AP English and Literature
Journalism/School Newspaper

I’m fully expecting to do well throughout my senior year and boost up my low GPA a bit.

I’d really appreciate any comment/feedback on everything above! Thank you!

Despite the low GPA, you will be a good candidate as long as you can explain the drop in grades and deliver a strong personal essay. The 3.9 11th grade GPA shows how you’ve improved, and getting good grades despite hardships will look great. Good luck! I’m applying there too
