i want to major in political science/journalism to be a political journalist. i hope they see the connection through my activities.

so, what do you think? do i have a shot at UPenn ED or Yale EA? which one should i go with?

sorry for the long post, i just need guidance!!

hmm have you been involved on any sports teams? I heard Yale likes some form of athletic achievement on applicant's transcripts.

^ yale wont care about athletic crap w/ his stats and standarized scores.

the mind boggling near perfect ACT makes up for the less stellar (but still amazing) SAT.

I'd say you have a very good shot at Yale and Upenn. Course, you may get unlucky, so I'd say u got mabye a 70% chance (random estimation, dont take my word on that)

As for ED or EA, I'd say go with this philosophy:

If you apply ED to Upenn, you're almost 100% sure to get in. They love Valedictorians (total admit rate was nearly 40% for vals), and since your a val with amazing stats and great EC's, you have a 99% chance of getting in in my opinon.

Yale on the other hand, is much more difficult. I guess it depends on how high you want to aim, even though both are already on the same prestige level, just Yale would be harder for you to get in.

Statistically, you're extremely viable in terms of others who have been admitted in both programs you cite. Your accomplishments are solid too. As you also know, there is seemingly no rhyme nor reason for the decisions once a certain threshold has been met (which you have). Best of luck to you -- you're certainly going to be a great addition to whatever college is lucky enough to get you.

BTW, ignore the remark about lacking athletics. That was extremely misinformed.

Rootbear is very kind to give you his/her encouraging estimations but he/she is only a student and it's only fair to say that no one can give you any percentage chance with any certainty.

this is the wrong forum for a chances thread...
