would it be as hard to get in as a bio/art history major (preparing for med) with similar stats as listed above? just curious...and im talking in-state.

what about computer science... im talking out-state... international?

International students with those stats probably wouldn't get into CS. Bio/art history instate is 50/50, out of state is like 25/75. The problem with this guys SAT is that his M+R only add up to 1260, which is pretty low for any major at UT that wasn't admitted as top 10 percent.

makes sense. but what about a 1380? i know that's still low, but will it get me anywhere?

Thats not bad.. higher than average, although I know someone with higher that got rejected. I had a 1390 but I used my ACT(32) so that is like a 1450. But I mean as a art bio major, if you have decent ecs, and a decent rank, its looking like you got a fair shot.

sounds good. thanks!

@foxhox: so you're basically suggesting a 1400+ (cr+math) before applying?

Definitely not. I am saying that unless you are instate top 10%, or have something that will put you over the top, a strong SAT definitely helps your chances. I can safely say that I was basically admitted solely on GPA+SAT although I was not top 10. 1200's math and reading is not unheard of , as far as students there, in fact it is like the average. But realistically 1300+ would be good since the top 10 percent students certainly do bring that average quite a bit.

Ok I get that, but
I wanna be sure that I'm a good(=above avarage) international applicant before I apply to Austin for Computer Science. So will 1400+ be enough?

Well if you aren't there is still no harm in applying aside from the 50 dollar fee, and if you can't afford that, you can get a fee waiver.
