Chances at UVA

Hey guys, I'm currently a rising senior and as bad as it sounds the only college I want to go to is UVA. My two sisters both went there, I can't afford out of state tuition, and I don't like any of the other in state schools.

Personal:
- White
- High Income
- 2 sisters, both attended UVA, mom and dad both Ivy Masters

Academics:
- 3.83 weighted GPA (Upward trending, 3.6 freshman year, 3.78 last year, and 4.1 junior year) I've never gotten a C, just struggled freshman year and got straight B's
- APS (All Junior Year) - Calc AB, B; APUSH, B; AP Macro, A; AP Micro, A-.
- I took my SAT while I had pneumonia and got an abysmal 1780. I got a 198 on the PSAT so this is an utter disappointment and will improve to at least a 2100.

School:
- 4 year varsity letter in Lacrosse, led team in points sophomore and junior year
- President and Founder of FBLA at my school (11), placed second out of 37 students in region for Job Interview event.
- Co-President/Founder Of the Libertarian Club at my school, our club meets bi-monthly and has created the freethinkers/libertarian book section in our schools library.

Business/Work:
- Ran an online business selling online gaming currency, $55,000 in sales from 8th grade to 10th grade.
- Recently invented, patented, and now selling a lacrosse device that is set to hit three lacrosse stores in September.
- Promoted to attendant/concessions supervisor at my work. Youngest manager out of 7 water parks (~45 managers), directly manage 15 employees (Some older than me), and increased concession sales 38% in my first year.

Hook (Somewhat)
- I have had my knee operated on 3 times and been sick with both pneumonia, lyme disease, mono, and a bad respiratory infection during high school and have missed a combined 75+ days.

I desperately want to go to UVA. My grades suck; However, I'm incredibly into business, consider myself an entrepreneur, and no doubt after college want to form my own business. I'm hoping that my somewhat impressive business extra curricular activities will sway me in!

You have a chance. Your Ec’s will definitely help. I can just say work on your sat score and you will be fine. Founder of the libertarian club that’s awesome!

also could you help me out? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1516725-worth-transfer-i-will-chance-you.html</a></p>

I’m pretty sure your great ECs will help due to the failed simulation effect. Also you have an “excuse” due to your seemingly permanent sickness.

really nervous guys, bump!

If you improve your SAT and showcase focus and passion in your ECs, you have a good chance. But it’s crucial that you get your SAT over 2100

At a minimum get your SAT to a 2010 (the median of UVA freshman). UVA has a 33% acceptance which isn’t unreasonable, most like even better odds if you apply Early App, so do that! Your ECs are impressive and you can incorporate your health struggles into your essay and supplement essays(not sure if UVA has those). You have a good shot, I would say high match for you. You might want to take SAT subject tests too.

remember this: uva has a 42% acceptance rate for early action instate applicants, and you’re a legacy so your chances are boosted even higher. average sat for instate accepted students is 1387/1600 for early action. GPA isn’t too bad, as long as you have taking a few AP classes you’ll be fine. raise that SAT score though!!

It depends.
Not from our high school (and probably not from the rest of Northern Virginia).
The average w gpa from our hs for U-Va was almost 4.2. (Lowest was 4.0.)

Average SAT: 2120

Everyone, I imagine, who applies to U-Va has great ECs.

Where do you live?

Yes, I’m afraid it does sound bad.
I would change that if I were you.
Good luck.

Visit other colleges before you say that you only want to go to UVA.

I live in northern virginia also I’m taking 6 AP classes next year if that will help

any comments would be much appreciated

if your applying ED, and your sat goes up to at least a 2100, i would say your most likely in.

chance back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1519195-chance-me-lehigh-ed-couple-others-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

With ED you’re confusing UVA with W&M. W&M is the one with ED; UVA did away with ED.

UVA EA: Aim for 2100+ (after a year at UVA you can then attend McIntire)
