Chances at Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Wash U, Cornell

3.8 GPA is low for these schools by the way. That means you have a minority of As in your classes. If you think it is high corenzo then you are just comparing it to your own GPA or whatever.

In the scheme of these top schools, it will hurt him.

Student gov and NHS president are not time commitments nor do they show passion.

RandomPigeon,

All of the schools you have listed are very selective. Do you have any safeties lined up in case things do not work out?

A few questions. Are you applying ED to any of these schools? Is your HS one that sends lots of students to top schools or just a few? What are you taking senior year?

Depending on the answers, class rank may or may not be a big problem for you. Nevertheless, I will assume you are going to a relatively affluent school district by the list of activities. If I am correct and you are in top 10%, then I think you have at least a 50/50 shot at all of these schools. My own guess is Vandy will be the easiest of the four (match 60% - 75%) and Cornell the hardest (low match 50/50) because it takes so many ED. Good luck!

I do have a few safeties. I am applying RD to all of these schools, my school mostly sends students to state schools and I am taking the hardest possible load. I’m probably like 7 or 8/115 so I am in the top 10%.

I go to school in NYC, but my school gets very little government funding (most funding goes to the struggling schools).

Wallrus, you do not know me, nor do you know what I’ve done. I’ve done so much as NHS president and you do not know me enough to say whether or not I am passionate about it. A NYTimes article was written about some of the things that I’ve done.

I have a 94 unweighted and all of my grades were in the 90s except one, so “there is a minority of A’s” statement is incorrect.

At this point I feel as though you’re just trying to discourage me from applying.

^^ agreed. Wallrus’ advice is ridiculous. You know who you are, and what you’ve done wayyy more than any of these fools. In my opinion you’re competitive almost anywhere. Good luck my friend!

I went 3/4. Eat it, wallrus! ^^

Cornell rejected me, but to me, Duke >> Cornell
