@lilypippili It wasn’t lame. good luck to you too. I’ll buy you a consolation dinner at our EA school if things don’t work out for you in RD.
@NJCCNJ NOT looking forward to it (ahahaa I’m dragging it out too long aren’t I)
@lilypippili nah… lol
@NJCCNJ lol glad you appreciate my jokes, I try
@lilypippili btw, did you apply for Financial Aid for Harvard (felt weird kept saying EA school)
@NJCCNJ yes I did!! Who wouldn’t? Did you?
@lilypippili I did. But did they offer you what you expected?
@NJCCNJ did they come out already???
@lilypippili I have a little bit of legacy + connection there so I could figure out. Oh. When does it usually come out?
@NJCCNJ Oh, lucky haha. I think they said December 16, the day after admissions results were originally supposed to come out. Was the FA what you expected?
@lilypippili It was a little bit below of what I anticipated. It doesn’t really matter since it is a good enough amount but is there any way to appeal?
@lilypippili
It’s not hatred, just jealousy
@NJCCNJ Oh, that’s exactly what I was talking about with some others earlier on this thread! If there’s a financial change you can definitely appeal, but once you get admitted to other colleges, if their financial aid packages are better then Harvard will probably match those offers.
I have a question for you: was the FA what you asked for on the CSS profile? like the bit where they ask you to estimate how much you can afford – was the FA anywhere near that?
No It was something else. Doesn’t harvard meet the 100 FA for students who applied for it on CSS?
@erpmk23 oh… well I can’t do anything about that… sorry I know it probably doesn’t mean much coming from someone like me, but I think it’s important to reiterate that you are more than what colleges say you are. They don’t define you. An acceptance from Harvard doesn’t make you any better than you were before, and a rejection doesn’t make you any worse. Plus, college is just a means to an end (whatever that end may be for you – wealth, or hopefully happiness) so don’t get so wrapped up in it. Undergrad doesn’t even matter that much, it’s grad school that counts again, that probably doesn’t mean much coming from me, but it’s true nonetheless
@NJCCNJ it wasn’t even close?? :((
yeah they meet 100% of DEMONSTRATED financial need, meaning they determine how much financial aid they THINK you need and then they give you 100% of it
@lilypippili I don’t know if that’s a good news or a bad news for me lol
@NJCCNJ what do you mean? If you appeal that just means you’re trying to convince them they underestimated your financial need. It can’t hurt to appeal. anyway you said it’s still a good amount so if that doesn’t work you can still afford it. just wait til you hear back from other colleges first
@lilypippili yea that’s a good idea.
