Doing this over mobile so forgive me if the formatting isn’t great.
I’m a rising senior who plans to apply early to Yale. I’ve had 2 brothers at Yale, 1 graduated and 1 currently attending. Both my parents also had an affiliation with Yale with my mother going to Yale Med and my father coming in from France and doing his residency at Yale.
Compared to other posts it doesn’t seem my GPA is great as I have a 3.95 UW, 4.45 W, but I think my public school system might be different as I don’t think like a 4.9 or even a 4.7 is even possible at my school unless you were to somehow skip ahead of classes. For example freshman year there is only 1 available advanced class, and sophomore year only 3.
Got a 36 on my ACT and only took it once. Haven’t taken and don’t plan on taking the SAT.
Got a 790 on Math 2, 780 on Chem, and 730 on APUS.
I got a 5 on US, Chem, Comp Sci and AB calc.
Except for maybe 2 times I’ve taken all of the hardest classes and have never gotten anything lower than an A-.
I’ve done choir all years and have gotten into all of harder auditioned choirs as well as a Capella group which I am currently president of.
I’ve taken a few online course, self taught myself Java, and taken a theoretical comp sci class at Princeton University.
Did cross country for 2 years and have started and ran various businesses online with video games, some more lucrative than others, making in the $1000s. I’ve also had some other jobs such as locally umpiring for ~7 years as well as helping a local business with online/postal advertising.
I’ve done a fair amount of community service tutoring for free at first (though have recently been paid) and have done a few week long trips staying in under priviledved areas and helping at daycare etc.
Theres probably some small things I’m forgetting, but that’s the majority of it. I know my GPA isn’t perfect and I haven’t taken every AP test possible, but with the legacy and applying early what do you guys think my chances are?
Again, I apologize for any formatting/grammar mistakes as I’m on mobile.
