I just visited Yale today, and absolutely loved the campus and atmosphere- as of now, it’s my top choice, so I was wondering what my chances may be.
My SAT Score is 1570 (on both of my two attenpts), my GPA (unweighted) is 4.0, and I am at the top of my class (albeit it is only 30 students).
I’m coming out of my Junior year, I which I took AP Chem, Lit, and Calc. On the latter two, I got 5s, with a 4 on Chem. In addition, since it seems my courses in the context of my school are important, Lit and Calc are both advanced senior level courses, and, overall I have exhausted the majority of the courses at my school to the point that I am spending about half of my time next year taking courses through our community college, as well as our last AP course, Us History.
I am the captain of my swim team (since sophomore year), and continued with the program in an exclusively leadership facet junior year after an injury disqualified me from competition, although I will be able to resume competing next year.
At a youth conference hosted by our Rotary District, bringing together 140 students hand picked for leadership qualities across half of our state, I was voted (by peers there) as the conferee of the year. This may not seem huge, but Rotary does take it very seriously, my name is now on a plaque.
Through my Community Foundation, I am on a Youth Advisory council for grantmaking, where we distribute $60,000 worth of funds a year. Additionally, I started fundraising efforts for the group, an area that, before my involvement, was neglected. So far, I have succeeded in organizing a successful car wash and am now looking for partners for further fundraising
I have been an active participant in our theater program since Freshmen year, was a lead this year, and assisted in directing an elementary production this summer.
I think this is all the most important information, thanks for the read, and please let me know what chances you think I may stand at acception.
You are qualified. The concern I have is what will an admissions officer think of one who retook the SAT after scoring 1570. I think that that presents one in an unattractive light.
A
The second time was the state mandated test, my guidance councilor told me I had to take it. Does that help, or will an admissions officer still look at it poorly?
I wouldn’t be concerned about the 2 SAT scores. Don’t take it a third time though!
