Chances chances chances for RD pleasee?

Ok another chance thread… yeah. I’ll chance back if I can!

So the deal is that my GPA is a bit weak- I had one consistent class through high school that killed me with B’s and B-'s for three years… will this really hurt me or will my SAT kind of save me?

Fairfield County, Connecticut public high school
Weighted GPA: 3.68, top 25% (school doesn’t rank)
SAT: 2070
CR: 670
M: 690
W: 710
SAT II: Waiting for results of Lit and Math II, but Bio M: 700, and if I for some reason didn’t do better on my Math II (which i think I did), i’d have to submit a 560 (ouch)
AP scores: Bio: 4

Major: Biology
Essay: I really like my supplements and my common app essay, both very genuine and realistic

Previous classes: All honors (English, Precalc, Spanish, Chem, etc.), Photography and AP Bio junior year

Please please chance me, it’s killing me seeing our acceptance graphs at school and seeing my stats right on the line!

i think that your extracurriculars will push you in since you’re right on the line with the graph. you’ve really “packaged” yourself by making your other activities tie in really well with your academics. good luck! chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/boston-university/827533-chances-rd-7-year-ba-md-ill-chance-ya-back.html</a></p>

What about if I had to send a low sat ii score? (maybe in the 590-640 range?)

Definitely. Its better than a 560 on Math. I am in the same situation where I have a really great SAT 2 and a really bad one and a language one that I am fluent in. I sent in all three because BU’s average of all SAT 2 scores received is around 640-650. So if its a bit below, i won’t see any problems. Plus your EC’s and SAT 1 score definitely will be a great push. Good luck! 1 day and 4 minutes lolz.

Also what is that 3.68 out of?

I didn’t apply ED. :frowning: so about four months!! Ughhhhh. If you did good luck!
3.68 out of 4.67 I think.

Pretty sure you are set. But almost everyone improves the second time they try. Physics 510 (no studying) to 690 in 2 months. Yeh I applied ED. My stats are about the same as yours but I heard ED is a bit easier. Any idea on what specialty college at BU?

CAS- probably bio or even premed if I’m up to it. I didn’t fall in love with bu until November 2… Haha. Now all I want is to go there.

bump…
keep looking at my school’s acceptance graphs and shows our lowest accepted gpa was a 3.52 while the average accepted gpa was 3.87. (i’m about 130 points above the av. sat score though). I’m so afraid my gpa is going to hurt me even though i have taken challenging classes, i’ve only taken 3 aps. can anyone calm my fear?

thank you for chancing me ! and i used to go to fairfield county public schools (darien high school)

but anyway… you’re definitely in at BU ! my friend was accepted last year and her grades, scores, and classes where no where near as high as yours . good luck

just got my sat II scores- not terrible- 660 math II, 620 lit. I’ll send the Math II one. is this good? bad?

I’m sure you have a solid chance of gettin in…but your GPA is a bit low…You have good tests scores and good ec, so I think you r in!! Maybe you could explain in a essay about your low gpa…

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/833710-chances-rd-ill-chance-you-back.html</a></p>

Well I wrote my essay about how I learned how to respect authority and a person who had a huge impact on my life, and I do the supplemental ones as necassary. I have actually heard it’s a pretty bad idea to write essays about bad grades and scores…
Like I said my transcript shows it was one Honors class that affected me.

I think you can definitely get in! Good luck! I’m applying to BU too, it’s my #1 choice! :)

Chance me back pls!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/837317-chance-me-pls-applying-columbia-umd-boston-university-harvard-drexel-ud.html</a></p>

I have about the same GPA (a bit lower, 3.63) and a 2190 SAT score so there’s really no line for me to look at. On the graphs from my school there’s always a huge clump around the 3.75 mark with a 1900 SAT, so I have no idea what being lower and way to the right puts me as. Hoping my essay shows them I’m a good kid.

nik- I have the exact same thing! and then there are some x’s around where my dot is. it seems I’m in on the 1600 scale but there’s a big rejection where my gpa/sat on the 2400 scale. very nervewracking even though I’m technically above average for everything…

I feel like I’m so concerned because my school is very competitive- the top kids are above 4.5s. and out of a class of 320, this year 30 applied to BU, and none early descison.
what are my chances knowing this??
