chances :D

okay guys, i left the same chancing thread at cornell, but i guess some people are pretty reluctant to reply. haha, anyway princetons pretty great, im just wondering what my chances are, any help would be great

Grade average: (around 92%, we dont use GPA's in canada)

SAT's: Psycho Ed. Test (equivalent to the SAT's)
-very detailed test on english, verbal, math, calculations, comprehenion, processing speed etc. etc. It basicly said that overall, im in the top 6% of the population. (taken by an experienced reputable psychologist, that specializes in education)
I know that not too many people know about the Psycho Ed, but its definitely recognized by colleges.

school type: private

class rank: school doesn't rank

background: Italian and Croatian. From Vancouver, BC..one of the most multicultural cities in the world.

erggmm.

-"care for animals" camp at the local SPCA...haha im not too sure how that one is going to be seen (one summer)

a little info of myself
-very happy go lucky type of person, i dont really take things seriously, and alot of people think im the nicest person they have ever met. I care alot for people, and can understand them REALLY easily (its a gift i guess, i dont know..) anyway, im not one of those live-for-the-marks type person, i go out alot and im really sociable.

essays: amazing

rec's: pretttty amazing as well

any help would be great!

ooh yeah and about football
i was awarded most improved and coachable (grades 10&11)

Well, how hard are your classes? A 92 is somewhat low compared to other applicants unless you have some incredible classes at an incredible school.

ooh yeah about that
In canada, an A is 86% +..generally because
the curriculum is a bit harder up here (apparently)
So basicly I have straight A's, with the exception of
calculus (B+)

courses:
AP biology
AP chemistry
Accelerated English
other than that, my school doesnt really offer any more advanced courses

seeing that most of your information (the psycho ed test, for instance) is not well known in the states, i doubt many CCers could help.
i have a question, though. why havent you taken the SAT? apparently you know about it and im sure SATs are offered in canada. college may see a lack of SAT as reluctance to bring yourself on par with other applicants or even as lack of confidence.
and i hope you base your application essays and short answers with more concrete facts and better expressions of self than pure claims that you understand people easily, you come from one of the most diverse cities in the world, and that you are the nicest person people have met in life.
please dont let your essays come off as rodomontade on the actual application.
yeah... and I will probably draw criticisms by writing the above. :)

following that negative post, i do want to say that your athletic involvement is amazing. i dont know how you pull it off doing so many sports. are you being recruited by princeton?

yeah, i took the psycho ed test simply because it was strongly advised rather than taking the SAT's. The Psycho Ed provides more of a picture revolving academic ability rather than taking a standardized test which does not necessarily determine your full academic potential. And for the "un-concrete facts", . I gave you those examples of my personality to get more of a picture of who I am and how I would fit into princeton (not like that necessarily matters on this forum), and obviously I am going to provide the most promising characteristics, but in an informal way because i realize that this is a forum. I am not that conceited as you may think based on what I have provided here, Im just trying to get the most out of what my chances really are- and letting you guys know generally, who I am (because that does matter in a college application- especially at ivies). I didnt mean to rub off in the wrong way, and Im sorry if you got the wrong picture. Anyway, yeah im looking more towards being recruited, it seems that it would better my chances by a long shot. As for as my athletic involvement, its been challenging..to say the least haha. It really all comes down to time management basicly.

haha and actually thanks for that negative post, i realize that you are probably a person talking from experience and insight as to what i have actually provided, thanks.

realistically speaking, your chance of admission to princeton is very low.

It is bizarre that you want to apply to Princeton and Cornell but haven't taken the SAT.

Princeton requires the SAT or ACT plus 3 SAT subject tests.

I don't think you can escape taking the SAT or SATII's. I know plenty of kids from Canada who are taking the SAT despite the fact that the canadian system only requires you to take a standardized test to ensure that you are eligible for candian colleges. Unless you've passed this by the admissions people, they won't be able to compare you (especially since you are sort of "international") with the majority of students who have taken SAT/ACT/SAT II's....
