Chances Davidson, Vandy, ND, WM, and a couple others

I've seemed to narrow down my list pretty well to a couple of schools that I really love. Let me know how I'd fare in admissions at these colleges.

I don't post on here too often, so I'm not sure what typical applicants at these schools are like, so let me know if I'm aiming too high/low.

Thanks a bunch guys, here's my list!

Davidson (probably my top choice, somewhat of a reach)
Vanderbilt (reach)
Notre Dame (reach)
William and Mary (not sure)
UNC (not sure)
USC (California, not Carolina. low reach)

MIT would also be stellar, but it's really not a possibility.

Thanks for reading! Please offer me an honest opinion, I understand some of these are total reaches, and I'm not going to get offended.

Oops, forgot to put Rice in there. Chance me there too please!

Your GPA and ECs seem amazing! Just have to make sure you have a solid test score. The only ones of these schools I know anything about are Davidson and W&M and your GPA/scores etc are a little bit higher than mine were and I was accepted last year so you definitely have a chance at those, and probably the others too! Good luck! Also keep in mind Davidson is a lot smaller than the rest of those schools!

Thanks so much thunder1! I really appreciate all that you said! It’s also awesome to get some feedback to someone experienced with Davidson, it sounds like an exceptional place to get an education. I have noticed the size difference, but honestly I would prefer that to a larger school. Were visiting in March, and I’m super excited! Did you end up at Davidson?

Everyone else: if you have any experience with admissions at any of these schools let me know! I’d love some more feedback!

I ended up at Middlebury - very similar to Davidson but much closer to home for me, and I am loving the small-school vibe!

Middlebury’s an awesome school too! I hear the language programs are great there, and that’s something i’m kind of interested in. It’d be neat to go there, but it’s so far from here that I feel like the transition could be difficult, especially the winter!

Other readers, let me know your opinions!

Hey, why do you think they are reaches? You seem like a good kid and i think you will get into all of those schools. Heck, even give MIT a shot. It would not be unfathomable for you to apply there.

Thanks ImSoAmbitions! I appreciate it.

If anyone else has input i appreciate it.

Bumpbumpbump.

forgot to mention:

captain of school’s academic social studies team.
captain of school’s science team.

We usually make it to region level in UIL competitions.

Your stats are pretty good my friend. Your rank is awesome (valedictorian and all) and your weighted GPA is great, but your UW GPA is far more important and you haven’t mentioned it. Your ECs are stellar too and your Subject tests are great. I honestly think unless if you got like below 670 on writing that you should consider sending the score in. Nevertheless, I see why you would want to retake it.
Here goes:
Davidson (probably my top choice, somewhat of a reach)- Low reach
Vanderbilt (reach)- Low reach
Notre Dame (reach)- Low reach
William and Mary (not sure)- High match/low reach
UNC (not sure)- High match/low reach
USC (California, not Carolina. low reach)- Low reach
Rice- Low reach (probably your toughest school)

Best of luck with your admissions process next year! I hope someone in our class (I’m a junior as well) makes a new thread next year for admissions results. Would be great to see where people actually end up.

Davidson (probably my top choice, somewhat of a reach)- Low reach
Vanderbilt (reach)- Low-med reach
Notre Dame (reach)- Low reach
William and Mary (not sure)- High match/low reach
UNC (not sure)- High match/low reach
USC (California, not Carolina. low reach)- Low reach
Rice- Low/Med reach (probably your toughest school)

Nice grades + good ECs + hook = In :)

Thanks guys! I really appreciate it. It’s nice to know that rice is the biggest challenge for me, since they tend to be pretty nice to my school’s applicants! haha.

bumpbumpbump.

bumpbumpbump

Reviving this thread, really interested in chances at Davidson. I visited over spring break and really want to go, but can’t do ED for financial reasons.

Please chance me for Davidson RD!

Thanks

Looks really good overall.

Davidson- Good chance
Vanderbilt- Average chance.
Notre Dame- Probably not
William and Mary- Probably in (Also, this is where I go, I absolutely love it, and chose it over “better” schools, so if you ever want to ask about it I am happy to answer your questions)
UNC - IDK out of Texas, but out of my home state out of state is nearly impossible…
USC - Iffy but possible. Same as Vanderbilt in my opinion.
Rice- Definite possibility
MIT- Very unlikely

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it.

That’s awesome that you go to William and Mary. How do you like it there? What’s the student body like?

I really want to get out to Virginia to check out W&M sometime, in addition to UR and Hopkins in Maryland too.

This list is really old, I went on some college visits and I feel like I know what I really want in schools, so here’s an updated list of ones I’m considering:

Davidson (Visited, top choice, awesome)
UNC (Visited, great as well)
William and Mary (Have yet to visit, would like to)
Vanderbilt (Visited, Liked it)
Johns Hopkins (would not be bio-med, so hopefully chances aren’t too terrible)

I’d really appreciate anyone else’s opinions on my chances!
