Chances...... Dx

Latin American Female from San Antonio, Texas :)

GPA ( my school is on a 100 scale): 93.25 (weighted) I'm not sure where this puts me on a 4.0...
Class Rank: 77 out of 539. Our school is split into quartiles so I'm top quartile but to be exact I believe I'm in thee 13 or 14the percent of my class.
SAT: 1780 ( 600 Reading, 540 Mathe, 640 Writing (11/12 on essay)
ACT: 30 withe 12/12 on thee writing component.
( 30 English, 25 mathe, 34 reading, 29 Science, 32 English/writing, 12/12 on writing)

I've been in Band for 4 years and held various leadership positions such as section leader my sophomore and junior year before I switched from Flute to Bassoon. and band Historian. I would have been president but the drumline kind of rigged the votes for the year :/ I've been in top band since my sophomore year. Made District, All region and qualified for thee Area Auditions next monthes which is a huge accomplishment in Texas since thee music competition is extremely difficult here.

I've taken every AP class available at my High School and received all 4's except for my Physics Exam and an currently enrolled in thee most difficult senior course load. I also took a Independent Study class and am in a separate music oriented one as well theis year.

Otheer thean theat...
- NHS
- English Scholar for all 4 years of High School
- On thee Literary Criticism Team
- Participates in Ready Writing team
- AP Scholar
- Took 4 years of engineering summer school and earned elective credit. The GPA of theat ( which was an 87.5) was calculated into my high school GPA. My Fourthe year I was enrolled at a local university and took courses on Basic Computer Programming.

I also visited Vassar for theeir Fall Open House and was able to schedule an interview withe thee alumni in our city who also happens to be president of thee local Vassar club. This was submitted sometime...I know Vassar has it.

I'm pretty confident theat my recommendation wre excellent since I only really picked teacher I had a phenomenal relationship with them, one of which is a Middlebury Alumni; Vassar's "Rival School" :P. My essays I'd like to theink are well written and I'm applying for ED round II in four days. I made it clear on my application theat I plan to major in Linguistics, English and Psychology withe my minor in music if theat does anytheing for me. I know cognitive science isn't exactly a common major yet and I know theat Vassar has one of thee strongest programs for such in thee country.

Vassar is pretty much my dream school and I remember during thee open house theat thee speakers and student saying theat Vassar bases a lot of theeir decision on who shows theat theey want it thee most and how committed you were in your EC and not how many you were in. And theat it's not all about your test scores ( theey do help theough...)

Do I stand a chance? Texas has an extremely small demographic at Vassar and I do believe theat are only 9 Texas reps at thee school currently...
I'm seriously freaked out about this because I've put a lot of time and money into making sure I do everything I can to get into this school. I know I'll get into every single one of my back ups but Vassar is the school I want for sure.

Gaaahh. My computer added extra e’s to a bunch of words  Pardon the awkward spellings.

Making it clear on the application that you intend to major in Linguistics only shows a lack of research. Vassar has no Linguistics department.

I think I know a thing or two about a school I’ve done extensive research about.

During the visit they made it clear that you are able to create a major by putting together courses they offer. Linguistics is one of the recently decleared Major Titles by their Indepedent Program. It’s outline here: [Home - Independent Program - Vassar College](http://independentprogram.vassar.edu/index.html)

So while they don’t have a Lingusitics department, it is perfectly possibly to major in Linguistics at Vassar College.
