Dude, you have a 1410. What college in applying to in Cornell?

me? A&S, biological sciences

I'm applying ED to College of Human Ecology, Biology and Society major, if anyone's interested. Sorry it's totally unrelated though.

is 1410 suppose to be a really good score?

I'm not sure. But I think it should be above average.

oh..shucks... lol i thought 1400 wouldnt be good enough for cornell :( so i took it again couple weeks ago

Well, I'm not sure how the new SAT's will be reviewed but I think averaging above 700 in each section will be pretty good. Also what college are you applying to and from which state are you applying from?

I don't know why many of you seem to think 1400+ guarantees admission

yeah.. i thought 1400 was barely making it..thats why i took it over again..

well i'm applying to CALS biological sciences (well still haven't decided). i'm applying from CA

Yeah, I found out that 1400+ isn't above average for Cornell at all. Rather, it's like the bottom 25 percentile.

1400+..? Thats a disgrace, disgusting....for Supreme Majesty Lord Cornell? Hell No! The bottom 25 percentile is like 1520, duh! ;)

actually, according to collegeboard the middle 50% percent of first year students was 1290-1490.

a 1400 is almost dead center at the 50% percentile for cornell students, so it's not 'below average' (25th percentile that you refer to), nor is it 'above average'... it's simply average. however, it may be slightly above average for ED applicants who face slightly less competitive applications.

All considered, each '10 points' you improve is that much more in the right direction, so it doesn't hurt you to take it twice. They will consider your best sections.

you can't possibly go by what the collegeboard says.

^^ why not??? all scores are reported the same...

positive thinking guys. if we dont' get accepted to cornell, at least we got rejected from one of the best schools in the country. i do hope that we all get in. fingers crossed

why can't you consider what collegeboard says... 99% of all freshman ADMITTED cornell students' SAT scores are with the collegeboard. I think that would be a reliable source... but then again, how much does it matter? the sat is just one piece of the pie.
