Bump bump! I was wondering. Is it a good idea to apply to Stanford early? It’s been my dream college for a long time but the other schools on my list such as johns hopkins and carnegie mellon have higher acceptance rates. Should I go for my dream school or go for more chance of acceptance?

If its your dream school, apply early there or you’ll regret it if you get denied RD.

Your non-profit will definitely help (especially at Stanford where they are super into that sort of thing!). You’re test scores are excellent but I would definitely consider not submitting your SAT and only submitting your ACT- since a 35 is roughly equivalent to a 2340. I think you have a good chance at all of your schools although at HP and Stanford-- no score, amazing EC, or leadership position can guarantee admission. Once you get to your range though I believe it’s anyones game and it might as well be a lottery.

what MUN conferences do you go to?

Our MUN team is very new (just started last year) and so we’re going to Berkeley and Santa Clara only but hopefully we’ll go to more places!

You need to get your GPA up a bit, as well as your SAT if you’re applying to schools that require the SAT (that was surprising as your SAT 2s and ACT were phenomenal)

I’d also really try and get some more leadership roles - founding your own club is good and President of Model UN is good. Try and run for a student body position if possible.

If you’re interested in finance I suggest doing FBLA.

Stanford (Early)

Harvard

Princeton

Columbia

Cornell

Carnegie Mellon

Brown

All Ivy Leagues are a reach for pretty much anyone. If you can get your GPA up and get some more leadership positions, and if you have good recommendations/interviews/essays I think you could get into at least one of you list.

Harvey Mudd, low reach

UC Berkeley, low reach

Johns Hopkins, level

UCLA, low reach

UCSD, level

UC Davis, level (you’ll probably get in)

UC Irvine, you’ll get in

UC Santa Cruz, you’ll get in

Hi! My UW GPA is 3.92 and take the most rigorous class schedule at my school. My GPA can’t really change much; I’m a senior.

All of my colleges take the ACT. That’s what I’m submitting to all of my schools.

I didn’t found my own club. I have founded and am the president of a global non-profit organization, WorldWeDream, that helps people with disabilities. I have over 15 volunteers who work for my organization. WorldWeDream is also in the midst of publishing a book.

I also have a former start-up that helped small businesses by creating websites and video testimonials.

Also, I am not the president of an MUN Club. This is a chapter of of the United Nations Association. It’s a little different.

Do those two founder positions count as leadership?

I think your ec’s are fine; I would consider what you said above as leadership.

To me, your biggest weakness is your SAT…but if you’re submitting ACT then you should be fine.

I don’t really think you have an outstanding “hook” that would greatly increase your chances at the ivies, but I think you have an solid chance at them if you write great essays and have good recs.
