Chances for a 3.975 GPA CSU to UC transfer student and other questions

Hello everyone,

I am currently enrolled at CSU Stanislaus and am looking to transfer to a UC in Fall 2010. I will have completed 60 units by the end of this semester, including credit earned from AP US History and AP Government tests. I am a history major, with a current college GPA of 3.975. I will be taking an additional 15 units in the winter and spring semesters.

I applied to UC Merced for Spring 2010 and was accepted there after a lot of collaboration with their admissions department, but would rather complete this Spring at Stanislaus and transfer to a UC in the fall.

I would like your opinion on my chances of transferring in the fall to UC Davis, Santa Cruz, Berkeley, and UCSD. The only reason I'm worried is because I am transferring from a CSU, and thus have none of the guarantees that a cc transfer has.

I also have a question about CSU upper-division to UC lower-division course unit transfers. CSUS offers an upper-division Modern Latin America history course. An equivalent lower-division course (same description & title) is offered at UCB, UCD, and UCSC. Will this CSU upper-division course transfer to the UCs as their lower-division equivalent?

Thanks for your help and any information you can provide is appreciated.

With a 3.975 GPA I’d have to imagine you have a very good chance of transferring anywhere you want, especially since History is not a very competitive major.

In reality, CSU upper division courses are often equivalent to UC lower division courses. How they transfer, I have no idea.
