Chances for a brotha

"brotha" is not ghetto talk. If anything it is colloquial slang. If you'd ever been to the ghetto and then to the suburbs, you'd know that

"brotha" is ghetto talk. I will not repeat my post again to avoid redundancy. Just read it.

you said that just beause a bunch of white kids use it, it is still ghetto talk. but it is hardly used in the ghetto, so it can't be ghetto talk. is it suburban wannabe ghetto talk? sure. do people use it in the ghetto? not really

I dont think the admission's committee would really care as long as you're not offensive.

your uw GPA is 4.4????

"you said that just beause a bunch of white kids use it, it is still ghetto talk. but it is hardly used in the ghetto, so it can't be ghetto talk. is it suburban wannabe ghetto talk? sure. do people use it in the ghetto? not really"

How do you know what is used and what isn't used in the ghetto? In your other posts you describe yourself as growing up in an affluent community.
I guess you disliked serchingon's comments or assumption, but simply saying that they are false is enough. Unless you have grown up in an inner city, you can not determine what terms or slang is used there.
The term "brotha" is typically used by African Americans, but it is neither "ghetto" nor "suburban". It actually kind of another version for Christian brother in churches (like Brother James) We are brother and sisters in Christ, you know?

serchingon, I am pretty sure the OP will not call himself a brotha in his college app. He seems to intelligent to do that.

koolmaria, i do know what i'm talking about. i lived in the ghetto of one of the poorest cities in this country until i was 7. my entire extended family (both grandmothers, all my aunts, uncles, and cousins, even my brother) still lives there. So i have spent sufficient time in the ghetto to know what is ghetto slang and what isn't. but thanks for questioning my motives...

hahahahaha, and this part just made me laugh so hard... I have never heard that justification, that we are all brothers and sisters in christ. maybe that we are all brothers and sisters in the struggle, but who knows, maybe you're right...

Something tells me that this thread got a little bit off-topic, haha...

word....brotha
