Just in case you misunderstood me; they don't give financial aid really (at least it isn't called financial aid); UCB has less than a 100 internationals in its incoming freshmen class of nearly 5000 students; and there are only 200 regents' scholars out of all 5000; so don't count on getting any aid from a UC (I didn't even honestly expect to get in! :)). If you do though, then it's quite nice; and they say that they'll meet full need (although I haven't received my full aid offer yet, so I can't independently verify that, but it should be true).

UCLA would be similarly competitive for admissions; so even if you apply to these UCs count them as reaches, not matches or safeties.

Amherst is also very competitive for admission. Have you considered Macalester? (I've got a friend there on financial aid, so I know that they are generous with aid for internationals)

No, of course I'm not. I know the UC's are very competitive and getting a scholarship anywhere is even harder. It's just nice to know I have an option :)

I have considered Macalester, but I decided against it, since I would rather go to a college on the East Coast or West Coast.

Williams is remote but the college itself is sweet.

Buddha, do you happen to know whether it is true that many Williams students are heavy drinkers?

Ah, I'm sorry about the Amherst thing; I did read a press release a while back that said that they would be need-blind, I'll try and find it; but it's best for you to find out of course before you apply.

Amherst has been said that since 2003, lol

Based on data from CDS, 80% of int'ls at Amherst get fin aid worth of 40k+, so fin aid won't be a problem.

I would also suggest Bowdoin, Pomona and Harvy Mudd. All three are great schools with great academics and great financial aid packages for int'ls.

According to collegeboard it gives out an average of $38560 ($1,773,776 divided by 46) to international students. That, of course, doesn't say much about wat I could get, but it seems quite generous to me. :)

They must be having the number of int'ls who applied somewhere on the site or in the Common Data Set. I haven't applied there do I have no Idea bout the number.
