chances for a good school?

I have been studying for the GRE and am distraught by the fact that the math section is going to really drag my scores down. I have a GPA of a 3.75, i expect to have good LOR's and a good writing sample, but I am afraid that if (or when) i bomb the GRE, it will keep me out of a good graduate school. First off, i expect to do fairly well on the Verbal part and my major is History, but will a horrendous math score bar me from being accepted by lets say UofM, or UNC??

Should i write off the math section as a loss, and just focus even more on the other sections of the GRE?
