do your best. polytech is not yet fully integrated by NYU. we still act like separated schools although we share services and resources. if you transfer, it will be an external transfer. I dont think general studies (liberal studies now?) can be applied directly. last i heard of it, they select you for it. im not sure they changed the policy. but for my transfer application, transferring to general studies is impossible. besides it's designed for freshman, not transfers.

Will my junior grades hurt me?

they might since it shows that you drop. try to relate how NYU fits you, and they might overlook them. avoid excuses, it sounds bad and causes them to focus on your C grades.

oops it was sophomore grades not junior, will it still make a difference?

Gpa- B/B+
Major-HISTORY
Rank-(top 50%) will increase to 25%
SAT- aim (2400) have
1200/2400 to -->1800/2400

These posts contrdict each other.

B+ is not a 3.5-3.7. Generally it is close to 3.3/4.0 or 88%/100%.

Your grades, assuming it is 3.5-3.7 or 90-92, is average. Your SATs are also average. This means you have a chance but you will be facing intense compeitition.

Therefore, you should focus on what you can changed, such as your essays and personal responses.

I suggest you focus your essay topic to something PERSONALLY related about yourself. True, there is war around but so does many others there. I am sure everyone has one of their sad events. I would like something happy at the end though so there's like hope. Also, the essay should about you, not your parents' experiences in war. Describe personal events and also try to relate how you are setting yourself goals to go to NYU. (You still have to reason your way in right?)

Even if you know a admissions officer, he's best used for information. applications are checked through committees rather than through one person in general.

Looking at your activities, it might be a good thing or two to add something interesting of what you did or learn about your interests/goals related to it. Writing a career plan that suits NYU's program of studies is a good idea too.

hsseniorlooking it is the same thing but the second stats show the first sat I had and the arrow shows that I improved to 1800/2400 from 1200/2400.

600 pts that's quite the jump. Improved 50% very impressive!

The reason why I had gotten a low grade the frist time was because of "girl stuff".

er, better not put that in the application. Doesn't sound good. girl stuff?

if you were a girl you would know
