Chances for a slightly above average student??

I am a junior in high school, New York, in a medium-competition school.
White w/ Hispanic background
2040 SAT
3.7 GPA unweighted (according to collegeboard, I have a 91, is this correct?)
4.0 weighted (93)
1 AP Sophomore year
3 AP’s Junior year (including AP Psychology, I am the only Junior in my school in it, reccommended because I got a 100 on both my Psych 1 and Psych 2 finals, along with very above average grades in the class)
4 AP’s predicted Senior year
Varsity Hockey since Sophomore year, Asst. Captain for Senior year
Golf Team
FBLA
Habitats for Humanity
Competed and placed in various amounts of writing/poetry competitions
Spanish Honors Society
English Honors Society
National Honors Society

Chances for: UMich, University of Florida, Northeastern, and could you also maybe suggest some colleges that I could/should apply to with these academics? Money is a factor, but not a significant one. I’m a preppy kid, hard working, and plan on majoring in psychology, and hopefully going to med school to pursue psychiatry.

Any reccommendations/comments !!!

Recommendations ** ouch :astonished: _face:

I suggest UPitt, NYU, Boston U, PennState you have pretty good stats

Your high school experience reads almost exactly like mine, and I’m going to the University of Florida. However, I’m in state for Florida, but I think that they’re looking to increase their out of state students. Therefore, I would say that you have a good shot if your weighted GPA is at a minimum above 4.0. This is the closest thing I’ve seen to a carbon copy of my high school resume, so therefore I would say that you have a decent shot at Florida. I don’t know too much about the other schools. If possible I guess getting a job would help. Even though it would only be for a short time, I’m sure that these schools would love to see that you spent the summer working a job, or if not doing volunteer activities.

@madal1 wow haha that’s pretty crazy! Yeah I figured that UF would give me a shot, and I definitely take into account what you said in regards to volunteer work/job during summer, I am already looking into volunteering at a local hospital, which would look even better since my planned major would be psychology, and eventually becoming a psychiatrist! Thank you for the input! Very comical that our stats are apparently so similar

Yeah I even got 2nd place school wide for a writing contest my freshman year. I definitely recommend volunteering at the hospital. Not doing that is one of my biggest regrets from highschool. Honestly, do that sort of stuff instead of getting a job. I mostly said that since I’ve been working for a very reputable grocery chain down here since softmore year, and the reputation of their employees no doubt helped me out. I know umich is your dream school, but it’s so much warmer down here! Also, my sister majored in psych at UF and is about to become a nurse practitioner, so it’s definitely a great program. Also, you’re more than slightly above average. Try not to compare yourself too much to some of these freaking titans on this site.
