Chances for admission?

What are my chances for getting into HYS and into a Top 10 school? I go to UC Berkeley and have a GPA of 3.78. It would be higher, but I *****ed up my first few semesters and got a bunch of Bs and even a C, mainly because of some personal problems that completely sapped my motivation. But starting the second semester of my sophomore year I got straight As (4.0) through the rest of college while taking a relatively heavy course load. I ended up graduating with a double major in Molecular Cell Biology and Economics and a minor in Comparative Literature. My LSAT score is a 180.

As far as extracurricular activities, they are decent/good but nothing outstanding. I have leadership positions in some organizations, am really involved in some student groups, and did some law-related internships. My personal statements are also good but not outstanding.

Do I have a shot at HYS? Also how much will law schools take into account the dramatic improvement of my GPA?

Are you some kind of superman? Why are you even asking us this, you should know you're pretty much a lock at most places.

is this post a joke?

I think it is a joke. C'mon, how many years are you taking to graduate firstly? And what was your first two semesters' GPAs. How many units did you take those first two semesters?

How many units did you take after those two semeesters? I want to see if it's mathematically possible to get a 3.78 after calculating your GPA. If this post is the truth, it should be easy for you to provide this information.

What leadership positions do you hold? Also, are you graduating with honors from any of you rmajors? Tell me which series of Economics you took, along with the professors' names, as I am familiar with this subject. Also, tell me which 3 main upper division "types" of Economics courses you can take.

If you can do all of this, and maybe a little more, I will believe you.

I am pretty sure it's a joke.

Yeah, too unbelievable. I think its someone posting what they think they can do after a bad first year. Getting all A's especially in MCB takes a ridiculous amount of time, much less ignoring he also majored and minored in 2 greatly different fields.

Plus, its been a long time since anyone at Berkeley made a 180 if the career center website is correct.

Let's be civil. Whether demonstrable or not, take the OP's word at face value, with casting stones. Thanks,

CD

Sorry.

Assuming everything is true, yes, you are pretty much a lock at any lack schools -- excpet Yale and Stanford.

Well we weren't making fun of him, we were more like he's too good to be true. If this were true he's probably one of the best students Berkeley has turned out this decade.

And the question he asks are pretty basic and answerable from a lot of different avenues. If he's devoted that much time to gpa and lsat, why not devote a little research on what needs to get done? I don't mean to be rude but I still don't believe it.

One of the best students turned out in decades? I dont know if you can really determine that from what's given.

Stop stalking my posts bro. Maybe one of the best law school applicants would be a better word.

Sorry, I'm not. I'm interested in law. Is that alright with you? Also, students have had over a 4.0 on the law admissions scale. This last post might be more accurate. Sorry if it seems like I'm stalking your posts, you just post on topics relevant and sometimes interesting to me. It's not my intention.

And you have stalked my posts, you knew about the post I used to get my other name deleted where I posted in a random thread.

Yeah, people have 4.0+'s, which is easy enough in certain majors. However, the LSAT score is pretty amazing considering only 15 people get that a year, and the career center shows the average for HYS from Berkeley to be about 170, even from lighter admission years where only a few people get in (at least of those that respond to the survey).

A 3.8 in MCB based on all A's since sophmore year seems unrealistic considering he said he made a bunch of b's and c's freshman year. He must have been good at avoiding bad professors and avoided other problems. Considering he double majored and did other stuff, I don't really think this poster is for real.

To me it seems like overkill and more like a dream scenario by someone who was just trying to see waht the responses are.

I still think it's joke -- but civility is always welcome on this forum. Better to err on the sides of caution and respect, IMO.

Maybe, just maybe, the OP spent so much time studying that he forgot how to use google or go to B&N to find basic LS admissions info -- you never know :D.

Not to mention that just because you are smart does mean you are not also lazy!

I've read many of your posts. Sorry for using the website features, I guess that isn't allowed.

I'm not sure of any majors in which it's easy to get 4.0. Some are probably easier than others, but I don't think a 4.0 is easy in any major. But I'm not here to argue with you about everything. Stop being so belligerent towards me. Maybe you're right, maybe not about the op. My goal isn't to fight with you.

Yes it is, pulls out lightsaber

Anyways it was just an observation that a lot of your posts have lagged mine in different topics. At any rate, this guy hasn't responded further reinforcing my notion that this was just a fire and forget by someone trying to imagine a playful situation.

I'm glad that you have a sense of humor, liberal. that's a good sign. I think that if you posted on larger number of threads, you find me posting on fewer of your threads. Again, sorry if it seems like I'm stalking you; not my intention or goal.

A raw work ethic is a pretty good substitute for any other skills. GUy still hasn't responded, just some kid trying to predict himself suddenly becoming einstein after a bad year I betcha.
