How about for 100? I mean I only ran a 11.7(11.3 hand timed), nothing great at all. But again, I ran that without ANY technique at all, absolutely NONE. I'm training in Taiwan right now, and I think I can improve probably .5 Would having a decent ok 100 time help? BTW, what time do they have to run to get noticed for colleges like UCLA?

prob like a 10.5 or lower. Maybe you should break 11 sec. but don;t worry so much if you plan on jumping in college focus more on that

Not always the case. If you don't go to any national tournaments then you will be an unknown and have to do your own recruiting ( e-mailing the coach, filling out questionaires on the schools websites, etc). Coaches can't call you until after your July 1st of your junior year. They can send information in the beginning of your junior year and you can talk to them via e-mail with no limitations. My advice is to e-mail the coach at the college if they don't have a questionaire. If they have a questionaire then fill it out and wait to hear back. With those grades you have a good shot at the ivy league or any other college. I knew a football player who had a weighted 4.0 and a SAT of 1610 who got into Stanford. The coaches at schools have a lot of pull so contact them and maybe it will help you.

Depends on the school, which is pretty much the best advice anyone can give on these topics. I wasn't being recruited by any Ivies but I would've been most of their team's best 100m runner (I'm thinking specifically Brown - where I went to school in the fall) in addition to my jumping. I went to one of their indoor meets (I think it might've been the Alden Invite) where the 200 was won in 23.5x. TWENTY-THREE FIVE. I was hardly even training in the winter and ran 22.91 in Boston off of working out three times a week. Ivies are tricky, man, 11.2x FAT / 11.0 handtime might be good enough with a 46' jump to get them to look at you. I personally didn't contact any of them and they didn't contact me either. I suggest you don't do what I did and get your name to them ASAP.

As far as improving by .5, good luck with that. It's very hard to drop significant time like that in the 100.

Damn, I ran a 23.7 in the 200 my first time ever running it....lol

I didn't know Brown was that bad. Among the Ivy's, I want to go to Columbia the most. I was looking at their website and everyone was a distance runner?!? There are only 5 sprinters....

Edit:

I'm looking at Penn's right now. Their best triple jump this year was a freaking 44! and last year was a 46.7!!!! LOL

Ok it seems like this thread's dead. But neways, i just took a practice test in princeton review and I got a range of 1870 - 2140. lol....600-680 for reading, 680-730 for math, and 600-730 for writing.
