UCLA and UCB - reach for the both of us
NYU - likely to get in
Cornell, Princeton, other ivies - depends on our LORs and essays
CMU - really can’t say after watching my classmate
MIT - even if we had discovered the cure for common cold, it would be difficult for us
University of Washington - reach
Harvey Mudd - reach
Purdue - safe for both of us

What are your non-reaches then?

LOR’S are some of the most spectacular for me. :)) I am still debating whether to finish my columbia app I am just fed up after 13 universities to write another why university essay especially since FU is not the best eng college.

@Catria I would consider MIT, Stanford, HYP as my non-reaches

Reaches for most. You have a decent chance at Cornell. I think you will make the UC’s. If you have time, take SAT Math II. It should be an easy 800, and most engineering colleges look for it.

@Bored1997 I am having a hard time convincing my parents to let me study at Dartmouth, because, like you, they think it is not the last word in engineering

Yeah probably uw and nyu are safeties
ucla ucb harvey mudd georgia tech UIUC matches
Ivies CMU and MIT reaches

UCLA and UCB: Match
NYU: Match
Cornell, Princeton: Reach
Brown: Reach
Dartmouth: Reach
CMU: Reach
MIT: Reach
University of Washington: Low match
Harvey Mudd: Reach
Purdue: Safety

@Catria you sure Harvey Mudd is going to be a reach for me because I was kind of banking on getting in. My credentials are posted in an earlier comment.

OK, Harvey Mudd is easier than MIT, Princeton, but when you have 200 seats yearly + a sub-20% acceptance rate, then even the most qualified applicants are not safe…

@rohit7198 your chances at most places are good…your application seems to be perfect…with those SAT scores and EC’s you should get into most places…although HYPSM are reaches for practically everyone…I agree with what someone else said, try some other excellent schools like UT Austin or Georgia Tech for mechanical…you should get into Cornell from what I can make out…the rest would be reaches(as they are for all applicants)…

Could you give your views on my application?..here it is http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1701839-chance-me-will-chance-back.html#latest

@Bored1997

One of my friends with a 2370, 4.0, and strong ECs was flat rejected Harvey Mudd ED. He might be an anomaly and you may have a solid shot, but don’t “bank on getting in”.

Any Comments on Jerome Fisher @puzzled123 @catria I know it is a bit naive but I really am in love with the program borderline obsessed

@Bored1997

I didn’t make M&T ED and was deferred Wharton. You can check out my profile on my chance thread- it was similar to yours.

One of my friends made it, but he was stacked- 2400, 4.0, owns a tech startup worth over 3 mil.

So yeah, def. a reach.

@puzzled123 did the friend who was rejected by Harvey Mudd apply for fin aid I here that makes a lot of difference at Harvey Mudd

I am not sure, but he is pretty well off. However, he is not an international- so the process is supposed to be need-blind.

@Catria Can I make it to Cornell? Would it be a reach for me? My stats are on the start of this discussion
