Hey guys!
What do you think of my chances at San Diego State University?

My grades are 16.35 out of 20.
SAT is not required for internationals at SDSU so I didn't take it.
I've already passed the english proficiency requirements.
I didn't apply for financial aid if that matters.

if ur toefl score is high you should be ok. For international student they tend to emphasize toefl scores. I'm not sure how they view international grades tho 16.35 should be a B average. I think ur ok, should be a match.

well at first I don't have the grades to get into a "top" school. I also got some friends there who says its awesome, great weather, great people etc. I wanna live in a city which is located by the sea and have a warm climate, thats why I think socal fits me pretty well..

cmon guys tell me what you think about my chances please =)

First of all, these people don't know what they are talking about. SDSU requires about a 3.5 GPA to get into, and it's a very good school. For example, it's the only school in the country that offers a Homeland Security major (fighting terrorists and stuff). They also have a great astronomy department--and use the local Mt. Palomar observatory for this major. Certain students on this site need to be a bit less critical of schools they don't know anything about.

As far as the city of San Diego, it's the second largest city in the state of California and is know for having the best weather in the country--as well as for having great beaches. As a person who takes 35-foot sailboats out in the ocean for recreation and who golfs a bit, I always enjoy my time there.

The question is whether a 16.35/20 is enough to get into the school. This is only about a 82 average--and this school has about a 90 average for admittance I'm think you are going to have a bit of a tough time, but if your test scores and ECs are okay--and have a good Toefl, they might overlook the lower grades. It's kind of doubtful, though;--SDSU gets the second-most freshman applications in the country (right after UCLA).

some people apply to easy in schools to go to the US and then study to get the feel of the education system. Some even applied to community college just to come here. Then they do grad school at like Harvard or MIT. I see cases like that before.

It's the experience that is the most important. SDSU basically caters to international students (and studying abroad). It has great international programs and I believe more people study abroad at SDSU than any other school in the nation. The international business program is ranked within the top 10 in the nation and SDSU offers a tri-country degree.

Hmm, I don't know. They are quite competitive, but they LOVE international students, so I think you will get in. Outside of engineering, they are the best CSU. Very fun school too. Good luck!
