Chances for an Ivy??

Is being a black male really going to make that big of a difference? I see other "Am I Ivy" threads and people with much better SATs and academics are being shot down. Does race really make that much of a difference?

Yes. There are laws and guidelines that say colleges must have x% of particular minorities. However, it's a bit hard for Harvard to find some of those minorities, so they need to be a little easier on admission standards. Not that I disagree, but some colleges support this because certain minorities are born into harder conditions and need to work harder to get as far as you did. In any case, you have a very reasonable shot, but if you could take the SAT again and bump of your math score, your chances would definitely improve.

I'm a white male, so:

But you may as well enjoy the advantage, hopefully it'll help you get in.

So I had my interview, it went alot better than I hoped. She really liked me. Halfway through she said that I had a very good chance of getting in and she would write a very good essay about me. Apparently she liked my candor and how relaxed I seemed. So I made a good impression and the stars seem to be aligning for me to get in to Yale...except for that damn math score. My recommendation was from my math teacher and I'm good at math in school, dunno what happened during those tests.

Whatever, now I just have to wait. Whatever happens, happens. I appreciate everyone's thoughts btw. Thanks.

Anymore input on my chances?

bumpy bump
