I would really like to get into the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and would like to know what kind of chances I have to get into this college as I know admission is competitive. I have great extracurriculars but mediocre scores, so be nice!!

I am involved in:
Student Council (4 years)
Tri-M Music Honor Society(3 years) Secretary (1 year...probably 2)
Beta Club(3 years...Philanthropist for 1 year)
Band (4 years...Marching band, pep band, jazz band, concert band)
Class Officer (9-Representative, 10-Representative, 11-Vice President)
Tutoring for elementary students(1 year)
All-Star marching band(2 years...probably 3)
I was also accepted into a pretigious exchange program in Spain (IU Honors Program in Foreign Languages), but was unable to attend because I had to get 2,000 dollars in two weeks! I'm a poor boy! lol

My scores are as follows:
SAT-Total 1720
Math-650
Critical Reading-520
Writing-550
(I'm retaking in October and I am taking courses to improve my low critical reading and writing scores)
My GPA (UW) is 3.851 and my class rank is 10/167.

I know that my scores may not be top-notch, but what kind of chances will I have with my current scores.

I don't think you have a good chance of getting into UNC with your current scores. Especially since you are OOS. You really need to raise your SAT score, and your ECs also need work.

I rarely say this but those scores will really hurt you. Your ECs are mediocre - maybe there are some hours I'm unaware of (perhaps the year you tutored students you were working ten hours a week with them?). If you want a chance, you should have a minimum of a 1250 math + verbal, your essays should be fantastic, you should apply early action, and you should address your extracurriculars with painstaking detail on the application (let them know exactly how much you've worked, and hopefully that'll be something they'd like to see. If not, forget the detail part).

You seem really nice, but realize that if you want to get into UNC OOS you're going to have to kick some major tail on your application.

are you thinking on doing more EC's senior year? i definitely would just so it'll look better on your app. and definitely SATs, how are your grades and your GPA?
