Chances for an underachiever?

I'm going to be applying for tech theatre. I have amazing theatre crudentials, but my GPA started off really low [2.5 frosh 2.8 soph 3.57 jr 2.95 overall] though it has gone on the upward trend. SAT wise, I have 1760/2400.

As for ECs and Theatre work, I have stage managed [basically ran and organzied everything] 4 productions and assistant stage managed 2 shows with the 2 biggest community theatres in my state [NJ]. in total, i've worked on 12 productions in the past 3 years. i'm the president of my schools drama club, vice president fo the tv and film society and 2 year member of newspaper. in total, i have 920 documented hours of community service, volunteering, and ecs.

I have recommendations from a director who has been in 2 shows on broadway and choreographed one and then two other awesome teacher ones.

i want to apply to Emerson, Rutgers, Syracuse, Ithaca, SUNY Purchase, and U Delaware for tech theatre.

I've heard many times for these schools that a resume is the most important factor in admission, but will my GPA totally destroy my chances?

Cuse and UDel look like big reaches.

^^agreed..

any insight on the others?

Your best bet is probably applying early to your state school.

Emerson-match
Rutgers- slight reach
Syracuse- slight reach
Ithaca- safe match
SUNY Purchase- safe match
U Delaware- match

I can tell you that 3 people from my school were waitlisted at Emerson last year with sats of 1800+ and gpas between 3.0-3.5. But I have no idea what their theater credentials were, or if they were even applying for theater.

Your resume looks very inpressive. Good luck with your search.
