I think I am truly an average sudent looking for some chances please!
Stats,

White-California
3.26 UW GPA(upward trend, started trying a little more and got above 3.5 both semesters junior year)
Rank: 200/442
1220 SAT (lol retaking)

EC's:
Nothing special, did some volunteering here and there or about 20 hours worth.

I took a college course last year and I am taking one know. Also plan to take one or two next semester. college gpa 4.0- thats right!

Schools:

Chico State
San Jose State
University of Nevada Reno
University of Nevada Las Vegas(dream school plus I have a schlorship there if I fill it out soon!)
Fresno State
San Diego State

It pretty much depends on your SAT scores at this point. I don’t think you’ll be able to get into any of them with that score. If you can at least get a 1700 to 1800, I think you’ll be set.

Chico State - Match / In
San Jose State - Match / In
University of Nevada Reno - Reach
University of Nevada Las Vegas- Reach? (Not really sure about this one)
Fresno State - In
San Diego State - High Match / Low Reach

Edit: Just for clarification, those chances are assuming you bring your SAT score up.

yes it is out of 2400 and I know I did really bad, but I don’t think I have to bring it up to 1700 just to get in. I know plenty of people who have had worse stats and got in to some of those schools.

The “average” American high school student scores around 1550 on the SAT. I’d say at least try to raise your score to that; it isn’t that hard. If you can do that I’d say you’re a competitor at any of those.

Anyways, take location into consideration too in regards to state schools. Due to California being economically dead…harharhar…CSU’s and states will be considering local applications over those far from SD or SJ.

But, without that issue, if you have good scores and grades, there shouldn’t be any excuse for them to pick you over a local with bad scores and overall gpa.

Just try to bring that SAT as high as you can!

Where do you live? You will have automatic acceptance with that gpa and sat score at your “home” state school, and many of the less popular schools (you can get into Chico, for example) - there is a sliding scale that you can find on the CSU websites. However the way things are going at the state schools, you might want to apply out of state if you can swing it - it’s going to take 5-6 years to graduate with all of the furloughs and classes that are being cut. VERY sad!
