Chances for Brown, Columbia, Rice, CMU

Hi! I'm in the final stages of applying to colleges (stress) and it would be much appreciated if anyone here could give me a fun chancing

I think we’ll need a little more to go off than that :p

Oh gawd I pressed enter spastically and it posted accidentally!

applying as an architecture or related major to the following reach schools:

Brown
Columbia
Rice
Cornell
Carnegie Mellon
Dartmouth
UVA
Notre Dame
WashU
Vanderbilt (legacy)

“modifying to delete previous post because it was before you posted stats”

Your grades are great (though I have no idea how rigorous your schedule is), and your scores are good. However, your ECs are a bit run-of-the-mill, which may keep you out of tippy top schools. Here are my predictions:

Brown: Rejected
Columbia: Rejected
Rice: Accepted
Cornell: Accepted
Carnegie Mellon: Accepted
Dartmouth: Rejected
UVA: Rejected
Notre Dame: Accepted
WashU: Acceped
Vanderbilt (legacy): Accepted

Best of luck!

I agree with studious Maximus

Brown - Reach
Columbia- Higher reach
Rice- high match
Cornell-high match
Carnegie Mellon-match
Dartmouth-high match
UVA -match
Notre Dame-match
WashU- match
Vanderbilt (legacy) -low match

^ Keep in mind that he is out-of-state for UVA, so it may be a reach for him.

Write great essays for Brown, Columbia, and Dartmouth (and make sure your peer review is solid for this one); they’ll help tons. Imo the rest of the schools are either high matches or low reaches and I think you’ll get into at least a few of them. Good luck!

omg that’s perfect I would die to get into any of them!

Haha sorry about my EC list, I have a lot more details/awards (especially in photography) but I didn’t put them because I was in a rush after accidentally posting thread without stats!

course rigor: I’m taking 6 APs senior year (unheard of at my school) so that’s pretty much covered

essays: working on making them beautiful!

good to hear good chances
soothes the nerves
there are a lot of nerves.

feeling a bump

also chances for Williams, Tufts, and UPenn if possible

extra deets:

Photography - I wrote my common app essay about it! I’ve been recognized nationally, featured in the W Hotel of Chicago and various online galleries. I’ll probably include a lot of it on my architecture portfolio/art supplement. I also started a photography club at my school which has been a lot of fun!

Community Service - 600+ hours, in altar serving for church, central america service trips, and Camp Promise especially. Camp promise is where I spend a week paired one on one as a caretaker for an adult with mental and/or physical disabilities.

uhh rest doesn’t need too much more details I guess. also I’m tired of typing.

You have a pretty decent application, and it is pretty clear that you are an academically “lopsided” applicant; your Cr and W scores are very high while your math scores are lacking. If you write good essays, then this app might work well for you.

My predictions:

Brown: Accepted
Columbia: Rejected
Rice: Accepted
Cornell: Waitlisted
Carnegie Mellon: Waitlisted
Dartmouth: Accepted
UVA: Rejected
Notre Dame: Rejected
WashU: Acceped
Vanderbilt (legacy): Accepted

Brown - reach
Columbia - reach
Rice - low reach
Cornell - reach
Carnegie Mellon - match
Dartmouth - reach
UVA - low reach
Notre Dame - reach
WashU - reach
Vanderbilt (legacy) - low reach

The activities you describe are not very different from what a lot of other people do, which is a little problematic at the very top schools, just because they’re so competitive. Essays will also be a major factor in your decision, which can make each prediction bump up/down by at least a notch depending on how those go.

Brown: High Reach
Columbia: High Reach
Rice: Low Reach
Cornell: High Reach
CMU: High Match/Low Reach
Dartmouth: Mid-high Reach
UVA: High Match
Notre Dame: Match/High Match
WashU: High Reach
Vanderbilt: Low-mid Reach

@Nihilus well I got into both Notre Dame and UVa early action soooo…

Anyone else willing to predict/chance the rest?
