Thanks very much to anyone who can help me...I feel like my stats are kind of mediocre (hoping to improve SAT when i retake next week) but I'm hoping a strong artistic supplement will help. ECs aren't stellar either, but that's because I've pretty much focused on dance throughout high school. So am I being overambitious by appyling to Brown, Columbia, Duke, and Georgetown?? Thanks!

bump 10 char

I think your passion for dance will make you stand out as an applicant…I wouldn’t worry about your EC. If anything, try bringing up your test scores. I think if you managed a 2100 you should have a really good chance.
Good luck!

If you get your test scores up a bit then I think you will definitely have a shot at all of your schools, including the ones you identified as reaches. As i<3art said, make sure you highlight your dancing in your application if you feel that this is your strongest EC. Good luck!!

Thanks so much! Better than I was expecting :D

bump! any other opinions?

You shouldn’t have any problem upping your SAT1 score. Most people increase approx 100 points the second time around. Just take practice tests. The only other thing that you might want to improve are the SAT2 scores. They are a little low. Maybe take them again if you have time. Your EC’s are strong and good rec letters will take you far. Also, work on those essays. Good luck.

Yeah, thanks, I’ve been studying like crazy so hopefully my SATs will be better this time around. And I agree the SATIIs are low, but I really only have november left to take them which is after most of my deadlines, plus I don’t think I’d have enough time to review enough to actually do better on them…haven’t taken bio since sophomore year except for the month we’ve had so far this year. Any other chances???

I live two blocks from Muhlenberg College and your chances are excellent for there. I also think you’d get into Dickinson as well. Muhlenberg’s dance program is excellent. I don’t know much about dance at Dickinson. My daughter who also dances is applying to Brown as well. Good luck and keep dancing!

Thank you, yeah I was thinking of those two as matches. I actually visited both a few weeks ago, Muhlenberg’s gorgeous! Thanks so much…anyone else ??

Dancer, 530. Have you looked at Wesleyan in Connecticut? That’s on my daughter’s list. A friend’s daughter graduated from there and danced all four years and loved it. Wesleyan is an excellent school for English majors. My daughter looks up college dance programs on YouTube. We also visited Duke but D did not like the town of Durham or the campus (too gothic for her taste). Actually, I think your ECs are stellar. You’ve committed to dance and done well. I think colleges would rather see that then a whole laundry list of ECs which the student isn’t really interested in but just doing for college applications.

No, I haven’t actually. Thanks I will definitely check it ou!

bump! btw i dont think im applying to duke anymore. So mainly Brown, Columbia, and Georgetown.
