I think my recs from my teachers and counselours are very very good, and my essays are decent
I really didn't care a lot about American universities till I visited some of the campuses (visited JHU and attended info session) and it just seems like I'll get a better education in a better atmosphere there.

with the cd, i was in the same position, thank god peabody does not listen to it.
write an amazing essay...show lots of interest....um, r u applying for financial aid?
dont worry too much about the sat ii's, mine were terrible, but i still got in ed. good luck!

hmm, still wondering that . . because i've heard stories about about hopkins being "need blind"
it would stretch my family pretty thin if i had to pay everything, but i don't wanna decrease my chances because i want financial aid

Hopkins is need blind for U.S. citizens and permanent residents. For international students applying the admissions process does relate to ability to pay / financial need.

i THINK ITS hard for an asian canadian to get into US schools. first you are applying against all the international asians from china india japan etc etc. then you are applying against the american asians who already got in. hey man what they gonna do take 100 percent asians? i mean its annoying at this point to see all these asians all over campus its like youre not in America. How would they feel in INdia if they didnt let any indians in but the colleges were all American IRISH? they would be ****ed to say the least. anyhow bottom line i think youre sort of screwed by your own demographic. you guys are canabalizing each other in the stats.. its sort of poetic man. However there is hope apply to VANDERBILT and PARTY I just got in and LOVE THE SCHOOL ITS AWESOME and for some reason we dont have that many asians. go figure

^^Wow, I feel the same way about white people.

In all seriousness, how can you complain about having a campus overfilled with asians? Even if it appears that way, it's less than 30% of the student body, compared to the 50%+ population of caucasians. The world is changing, get used to it.

yeah ok so maybe the white people can go to school in BOMBAY? why not keep friggin populatin... give me a break. i went to visit a school which I will not mention the name of in the north east. the school was LOADED with asians. I went into the cafeteria and thought I was in bangaladesh and china. and NOBODY was speaking english- now tell me what is going to entice me to study there. THe profs speak so fast you cant figure out what they are saying. where do i go to school to hear english and speak english with my friends? just let me know. Im going to be at VANDERBILT and so far the place looks mixed but not all asian. Id like to see a little more of a mix if you dont mind

Wow, what a provincial attitude. People of minorities deal with this same thing all throughout high school and don't complain about being surrounded by white people. From their point of view, they're the token black guy, chinese guy, indian guy or whatever. Learn to deal with assimulation and step out of your little box and into the real world.

From now on, let's just deal with the OP's question of his chances.

MrRomantic405 - do you just troll every school's boards and boost Vanderbilt?

I'm really debating whether to apply for Aid or not, I wouldn't be expecting that much, but paying for everything would put a strain on the family.

^ i'm asian, and we are filling up colleges i agree.. but it shouldn't be seen in a derogatory manner. Romantic, if you want more white people to fill up colleges so badly, tell more of them to hit the books!
