<p>If you would like to skim this long post, key points on academics and test scores are "highlighted" with stars (<em>).
If you want, you can also post chances for UCLA, UC Berk, and JHU. Some things have changed since I last posted threads concerning those colleges, but the main focus here should be the LACs listed in the title.
Stats:
Graduation: Early Summer, 2014, no grades "skipped"
COURSELOAD AND GPA=======================================
Sophomore and Junior Year GPA:=======
</em>**<strong><em>UW GPA: 3.60 (I know... the UW GPA is terrible for Carleton)
*</em></strong><strong><em>Weighted GPA (assuming pre-IB/honors courses receive a +1.0 bonus): 4.52
*</em></strong><strong><em>Weighted GPA (assuming pre-IB/honors courses receive a +0.5 bonus):4.26
*</em></strong><strong><em>Full IB Student
Courseload:::: Fresh 1 AP, 4 Honors/pre-IB, 2 electives////Soph 1 AP (could have taken AP psych, but took a second science honors course instead [Physics Hon and Chem pre-ib]), 1 elective, 5 preib-Honors////Junior All IB/AP courses (including 2 science courses, Bio and Chem) [3 AP, 4 IB]
Academic Trends: UW GPAs-- Fresh: 3.57, Soph: 3.50, Jun: 3.70
*</em></strong><strong><em>Note on junior year: As you will see below, it was the best year for me in terms of academics, test scores, and extracurriculars. I know that the upward grade trend does help for some colleges, but I am a concerned that the improvement in ECs may be taken as a sign that I just want to impress colleges when the improvement is really just a result of my own personal growth. If you have any thoughts on this topic that you would like to share, it would be great if you could post them in addition to your other comments.</em></strong>*****</p>
<p>Other notable courses: Taking Calc AB junior year, will take "double-math" in senior year--Calc BC and Statistics, replacing my foreign language (AP Latin [I took IB Latin IV in junior year]; Taking double science as a sophmore (physics honors and chemistry pre-ib; second science replaced AP Psychology, potentially increasing or reducing courseload) and for junior/senior years (Chemistry IB and Biology IB--Both had A's Junior year [B's for pre-IB chemistry in sophomore year) (Replaced my elective course in Sophomore year and my "Sixth Subject" (E.g. Comp sci, Philosophy, Psych, etc...) in Junior and Senior Year
***<strong><em>CLASS RANK========== 15%
As of sophomore year, 15%; likely to be significantly higher by beginning of senior year due to 3.7 UW GPA in Junior year, while grades of other students are going down due to significantly increased workload (IB and AP courses). Also, pre-IB courses tended to hurt my class rank because of their increased difficulty in spite of their same weighting value as honors courses.
*</em></strong>**SAT/PSAT==============================================================
