Thats about it, if you chance i will chance back, thank you!!

You should be a high match for all of the state schools for sure

you think im a high match at even u of i and michigan? then i must have no chance at the others…?

Oh I mean that you shouldn’t have a problem getting in. Sorry for the confusion. The other schools like Northwestern and Duke, etc. are still reaches (as they are for almost everyone)

thanks. would EDing at any of the good schools make me a match? and what are my scholarship chances at VT, Wisc, Umich, Illinois and Purdue?

buuuuuuump

buuuuuuuuuuumpp

I respectfully disagree with the above poster, I think you are a match for all of the schools. However the Pratt engineering is very competitive and might be your toughest one to get into. You definitely have the stats for all the schools you mentioned so don’t be worried.

thanks ohioman! do you think i have a chance at getting any scholarships anywhere?

Im not really sure about the scholarships, more state schools give academic than the better national universities, but having said that I do not know. I, like you, am only a senior in high school this year, I just know from my sister who attends Duke that your stats are very acceptable. So long story short I think state schools would give you more scholarships for academics.

I think you definetly have a chance at all the schools you are looking at. State schools for sure, C-Mellon engineering is stretch for anyone but you’ve got a good enough chance as anyone else. Chance me back?

thanks for the posts guys. anyone else? ill chance back

buuumppppp

bump!!!

State schools are fine. The main thing holding you back is your lack of leadership in your ECs. Other than that, get good recommendations and write a killer essay, and you will probably be ok with most of the other schools too.

Chance me: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/953055-please-chance.html

bumppppppppppppp

Yeah ACT is solid make sure you take the subject test seriously also bc i made the mistake of thinking just taking the subject in school was enough opt to spend the $15 on a Princeton Review study guide

All your EC’s are decent especially service oriented ones & sports are good but try to add a few academic & leadership ECs also

Since im from pittsburgh & both my parents are CMU engineering grads ill speak a little to that specific school- they want to see high test scores (yours fit rather well) and devotion to your major, they basically want you to do a ton of math/science related activities in highschool and come to CMU knowing your area of study- im guessing other engineering schools are similar (except Ivies which are more academically diverse) so rack up some math/science EC’s or layout your passion in our CMU essay (its usually on why you want to attend CMU & study your specific major)

thanks dorkoa the only issue i have with cmu as opposed to a michigan or northwestern is the lack of social life and living in a city atmosphere as opposed to a more traditional college town. do you know anything about social life/campus at cmu?

fortunately i do actually
my sister is also attending there (being the big CMU family we are)
Oakland (the part of Pittsburgh CMU is in) is actually a little outside the downtown area and is also home to UPitt which is huge so almost all the building in the area bleong to UPitt/CMU and the business in the area cater to college students coffee shops cheap eateries clothes ect. - so theres the big city aspect made a little smaller
the CMU is smaller & quickly traversed by foot
they do have a main green quad where frisbee is played bbqs concerts ect. so its not all city also directly next to CMU is Schenly Park which is your typical green wooded park the CMU buildings are upto date & technically decked out The New ‘Gates Building’ funded by BIll himself is really cool GOOGLE also donates cool gadgets too
social life is not as bad as people think only at finals/midterms does the place die
sorities/fraternaties are big so either join one or make friends at one if you want to party
alternatively East Carson Street in a great bar/night club/shopping district close to campus. UPitt parties are also an option since theyre a big state school
small universities Carlow Duquesne are also in the city so all these students kind of make up their own college town inside the city

hooped that helped

alright that sounds good not super fun but pretty fun. thanks dorkoa
