Hello! I am currently a junior from Southern California in high school and I am very, very interested in going to Cal Poly Pomona’s Collins College of Hospitality Management! However, I do not know if I will get in and I am very worried because it is almost time for me to start working on college applications. So, I was wondering if you could please chance me. Also, I have a few more questions. This might be dumb but, is it hard to get accepted into the hospitality program? Do you happen to know the average GPA and average SAT that would normally get accepted into the hospitality program? Does Cal Poly Pomona only look at your grades/test scores and not your EC’s/teacher recs? Do you need teacher recommendations and do you need to write an essay? Is hospitality management an impacted major? Would it be better to just apply as an Undeclared major then transfer to hospitality after getting in?
-UW GPA: 3.0 (might raise a bit depending on this semester’s outcome and senior year’s first semester)
-Overall GPA: 3.1
-Weighted GPA: 3.3 (same situation as UW description)
-Took 2 AP’s this year, taking 3 AP’s next year, took 3 honors so far, taking one honors next year
-SAT: 1260 (planning on taking it again in the summer/fall and aiming for a 1430)
-Not taking ACT
-Planning on taking 2 SAT Subject Tests
-EC’s include: on the board for 4 clubs since last year, marching band (2014-present), in one outside volunteering group (2016-present), volunteer at hospital (2015-present), volunteer at animal shelter (2014-present), currently working at coffee shop (started 2017), apart of a church praise team(2014-present)
Please tell me my chances of getting into the hospitality program. Thank you!
