The early decision acceptance rate at Columbia College last year was 19.9%.

I feel like a tool just posting to bump this, but I’m going to go ahead and do it.

Nice grades and SATs. As long as they see that the school only offer 5 and you only could take 3, that shouldn’t bet too much of a problem.

EC-wise, being editor is sweet. Are you thinking of going into journalism? You might want more, especially in terms of service, just to be safe. Try to interview if you can to show what you’re all about. Use the interviewer as a contact to help you get through to Admission Committee that you already are a Columbia woman and that you definitely should be there. Even if they don’t have much influence, having them in your corner and reminding them why you are worth it is always a good thing.

I applied last year but wasn’t ready soon enough for ED. Too bad. Got WL’d and didn’t make it in. Supposedly, it does give you an advantage.

Any chance of getting your SUNY profs to write recs for you, showing that you are capable of taking on college-level stuff and that you look for challenges outside school when the school only offers a limited number of APs.

Nobody is “likely” to get into an Ivy, but you sound like you really have a chance. They can be funny. You may be a shoe-in, you may stand no chance. Take heart in the improved odds with ED and the randomness of Ivy acceptances. You are a good candidate who has worked her hardest and produced stellar results. Pat yourself on the back. Even if you don’t make it into Columbia, all those other schools sound like you’re more than qualified to go there.

Best of luck. I really hope you get it. If anyone can, you can. Can you chance me? Mine’s called Crossing My Fingers. Thanks.

Peace.

i think you are definitely into Columbia, you seem like their ideal candidate
