something on your app isn't right!!! if you have such a low income, why did you volunteer?

well my dad lost his job in 2004. All my volunteering was done prior to that (9-10). After my dad lost his job, I began working.

bumppppp.....I sent 2 additional essays to dartmouth: one about my unique experience, and another about my current situation. Also I reaceived my SAT score 1940 which is not good. I also sent a letter of interst to show that I really love dartmouth and that my recent experiences and situation will greatly help in diversifying dartmouth. Additionaly, my work supervisor sent an additional rec detailing my passion and knack for medicine.

Im not expecting much from Dartmouth. However, will they immediately throw my app or at least consider and even possibly accept me?

does being poor help at places like dartmouth? I seriously applied for the hel of it, and decided to put alot of effort into the apps and supps. Is there any chance I can get in?

Its just not happening, you can't write essays or EC your way into a place like Dartmouth without the stats. I hate to say it, I'm sorry. There are plenty of great schools out there, Dartmouth just happens one of the most selective schools in the country.

NOOOOOOOO :(, i am a transfer, but my SAT I is only 1400 :(, i tried so hard this year, worked for months on my app, but I didn't retake SATs. I always thought Dmouth put a lot of emphasis on essays and EC. but oh well... the app is in, what is done is done, hopefully everything'll work out for me :(

ye screw it, i give up

Newbyreborn,

1400 still puts you in the game, with strong grades and great ECs it could happen. A 1940 isn't in the game.

what if ur SAT score is 1990 but ur GPA is amazing?

lol dont listen to anyone on this site
Dartmouth has accepted kids with mediocre SAT's before.
A friend of mine got accepted with a 1050.. but then again he was a Mexican-American.

Sucks that you're an Asian American.
All you can do is try though!!
So goodluck

thanks :D, i understand i don't have much of a chance, but i hope everything else holds up :D Dartmouth is my FIRST TOP CHOICE :D, you just gave me more hope

I am an interviewer and I've interviewed over 20 kids. I also am very good friends with an associate admissions officer. I haven't seen a kid with a 1300 or less without a significant hook or very highly ranked get accepted in years. Being Mexican is a significant hook...a 1050 seems ridiculously low to me however, must have been a couple of years ago and the kid had to have a 4.0. Or he got a better score and you didn't know it.

Nah he scored a 1050.
Not quite sure about SAT II's though. Didn't ask.

I'm not sure about his gpa and ec's.
I visited Dartmouth in October and he was my host.
I was incredibly shocked.
Maybe his hook was that he was gay? lol

well i mean there are always exceptions, and ONE 1050 is just looking at one person, a case study gives very weak data to generalize on!
you can really relate that case to winning lottery, every weak ONE person wins the lottery, and if this person ate the apple and washed his hands in holy water before he picked the numbers, it doesn't mean that some other person does the same ridiculous ritual would also win right?

lol precisely
he was a lucky one hehe

Hey, just wondering...

Do you think a 2180 will be competitive enough for dartmouth?

Or is it just too low that the adcom will just be like: "pshht... what is this kid thinking?"

Sorry to steal the spotlight here, but I really want to know.

Thanks! :)
