Chances for Duke, Berkeley, and U Miami?

Here are my stats,

AP: 5s on both AP World and AP Euro, took 3 more this year (junior year) awaiting my scores, and will take a few more next year, inluding the ones required for my IB classes.
IB: I am a student for IB all 4 years, wrote an economics EE (dont know if this lets me stand out)

GPA:
Unweighted: 3.75
Weighted: Haven’t checked in some time but around 5.6 last time i checked, maybe higher now

ACT: First try was a 32, with minimal studying, hoping to bring up 2 more points at least.
SAT: not submitting, but out of 1600 i had a 1390
Taking SAT subject tests soon but im hoping they wont affect or mean much just in case i dont do as good.

Sports:

  1. Tennis, team captain next year, went to districts 2 times, voted MVP this year, have always been in the top 5
  2. Dance - Bhangra, on a team that will compete at a national competition.

Leadership Positions:

  1. CEO of a nonprofit (technically pending because forms will take a few months but it is incorporated in my state as a nonprofit corp.) organization i founded this year that helped lift people financially. Working extra hard this summer to bring it into action as something i am passionate about. Coded the website myself, and preparing plans for fundraisers and way to raise money, as well as efficient systems to get people help in the fastest and simplest way. Gaining an internship with a relative’s company in my city for experience and his help for my organization. This is serious and i am not just doing this for college apps, which i hope UM will notice.

2.Founder and President of Science National Honor Society chapter at my school. Haven’t done much with it this year because of the adviser who, in the nicest way possible, took FAR too long to admit people and create applications, but nevertheless we have a lot planned for next year like a lecture series of scientists and fundraisers.

Clubs:

  1. NHS
    2.Future Investors Club
    3.Speech and Debate

Skills:

  1. Self taught javascript, php, html, and css. Learning android development/java at the moment.
  2. Artist, oil paints, acrylics, and drawing, took specialized classes on human anatomy as well for drawing

Community Service:
1.My nonprofit
2.Relay for Life
3.Hospital volunteering
4.A museum of science where i got about 63 hours
5.Plenty more smaller ones like a dance marathon
6.Total should definitely bring me well above 130 hours

Bonus Points if i will get into: UCLA, Brown

Hello there, first of all you have an outstanding profile. What you have far outweighs mine and I just graduated so I know it’s hard when college applications come around in senior year. I applied to only 5 schools like Duke and Stanford but I got into all of them

U Miami- safety.
Berkely- small/medium reach (if OOS).
Duke- small/medium reach.
You are in the ballpark for all of these schools.
My two cents.

Sorry I know write more than that. I graduated with a 3.92 GPA, 23 ACT, and rank 10. Academics alone is not good enough. You have to write an outstanding essay and have great recommendations. Idk how I got accepted but I wrote my personal essay about my recent hardship that shaped who i am today. I wrote my passion for medicine and realizing that I wanted to become a doctor. Write about something you want to become. Be committed. Be passionate. And EDIT as much as possible! I had an AP literature teacher edit my essays and it’s good to have help throughout your application process. This fall I’m going to Duke.

@Mustang2k16 you had a 23 ACT, not 32? I am just asking because 32 is more consistent with the class profile, though you obviously have some very outstanding characteristics. Either way congrats, you seem like an outstanding student who will fair well at Duke!

@Mustang2k16 sorry, I read your post wrong and see you write that you have no idea how you were admitted; now I know you meant 23. Anyway, great job!

Thanks guys! Any tips to improve my profile anywhere?

If you are interested in Duke, you’ll need at least a 34 to be competitive. Are you applying RD or ED? Trinity or Pratt?

I’ll probably apply ED to Duke

Duke, Trinity
