My cousin went for undergrad and my uncle did his residency at Duke
Been investing in the stock market for 6 years, nearly doubled my money
More stuff that I can’t remember right now; My grades have also been steadily improving since freshmen year.
You didn’t actually ask a question. Are you asking to be chanced for Duke?|
You have 3.9 weighted, and multiple AP/Dual enrollment classes (and I’m assuming honors classes), so what is your unweighted average?
Duke is possible, but you need to consider other schools. If a finance major, then the Univ. of South Carolina should be considered. Likely to give you a scholarship & the best 36 finance majors get into a special program junior year that has 100% job placement by graduation.
Michigan & Texas for business.
Colgate University may interest you. Do you want to work in NYC after graduation ? What are your career goals ?
One of my nephews majored in math at the University of Chicago, then worked at a hedge fund for 6 years. One of my nieces majored in math at brown, she got her PhD in math & is now a university ass’t professor.
For NYC IB, you probably already know the target schools.
Yeah, plus I’ve got some older friends who are just starting to break into finance, so hopefully by the time I’m out of school, they’ll be in a position to help me
Been investing in the stock market for 6 years, nearly doubled my money.
Maybe consider leaving this off any application. You could have achieved the same returns by simply parking your money in a S&P500 Index fund. It doesn’t really hurt you, I guess, but it doesn’t really make you look like the next Peter Lynch either.
Consider colleges that have strong ties to Wall Street. Have you thought about Williams, Georgetown and BC aswell as Duke?
Maybe Georgetown, I know I’m underperforming compared to an index fund, but I feel like showing I’ve had an interest in the market since I was young could be beneficial. Also thank you for replying.
