Chances for ED William and Mary?

So I’m nearly 100% committed to going to W&M and I’m applying early action this November. Here’s my profile:

Basic Info
Gender: Male
State: VA, northern

SAT: 2000/2400, but since W&M only considers Crit. Reading and Math, 1340/1600
Will get this up!

SAT IIs: Math II: Just took it, expecting 750-800/800
US History: 690ish?/800

GPA: 3.91 (weighted).

APs:
World History 5
AP Chemistry-Expecting 3-4
AP US- Expecting 5
AP Language- Expecting 4-5
AP Physics 1- Expecting 5

Next year’s APs: Spanish, Biology, AB Calc, Physics C

Extra Curricular: Pretty weak, Robotics, Spanish/Math/Science honor society, Track for 4 years, community service

Any feedback on my chances or areas of my resume that need improvement are appreciated

Does your school rank students? Where do you think/know you fall in your class? It’s hard to consider your weighted GPA without that context. Your SAT score seems right in the middle of their mid-50 so I think you’re doing well in that regard.

If you apply ED by the November 1 deadline, I think you’ll have a slightly better than 50% chance. W&M’s ED acceptance rate I believe is around 47%, and that includes out-of-state students (it’s likely a little higher for in-state).
Make sure you take the SAT as many times as you can. You’re right in the middle of their range, but every little improvement helps.
I agree with ribbonroad224 that giving class rank would help evaluate your chances. But you’ve taken a very good course load and if you get the AP scores you’re expecting, that would look very good on your application.
Also, try to pursue some leadership positions in clubs during senior year to bulk up your ECs. Admission committees love that.
Lastly, remember to ask a good teacher who knows you well to review multiple drafts of both your Common App essay and your W&M supplemental essay. If you nail the essays, they’ll really make you seem like a lot more than a list of statistics and will help to differentiate you from other applicants.

Good luck and go Tribe!

I think the question is what are you passionate about or what makes you stand out? Your courseload and test scores are fine, but you will want to make yourself a clear “yes” among the thousands of other applicants. That is where doing a good job on the essay and/or interview can come in handy. From only your extracurriculars, it is difficult to tell what you might be interested in or where your passions lie. So the admissions committee will want to know: What type of person are you? What drives you? Why will you be a good addition to campus?

The posters above you have both been accepted to William & Mary so they give good advice; I just might add that since it is difficult to know where you might stand in terms of unweighted GPA, you may want to check out Naviance to see how you compare to past applicants from your school.

Good luck and hope to see you in the Tribe
