Hi everyone!=] So I've already been accepted to Maryland, Penn State, Loyola MD, TCNJ, James Madison, Quinnipiac, UConn, and Rowan. I'm still waiting (and would like to be chanced for!):
- University of Miami
- Villanova University
- Syracuse University
- University of Richmond (deferred EDII- I think because of a missing midyear report. SO I went and sat in on a class and met with a professor, went to an info session, talked to some people in admissions, wrote them a letter, had an alumnus write a recommendation, etc.. Obviously my top school!) I have legacy here (an aunt and uncle).

Basics:
- white female from northern NJ
- pretty competitive public high school -- about 250 in my graduating class (my school doesn't rank but I know I'm in the top 50)
- I want to study communication/rhetoric or journalism, or PR at the schools that have it as a major.

Academics:
Frosh & Soph year I had all A's & B's and a few honors courses.
Junior and Senior year: 2 APs (2 is the yearly limit at my school, believe it or not).
Tests: English Lang 5, US History 4
Besides the APs: honors French (Jr year, no longer taking French), four Syracuse University Project Advance classes in senior year (Forensics, Psych, Sociology, and English), selected for NJ Teen PEP program (basically sex ed but we educate the community about issues and help the freshmen adjust to the high school)
This year I've gotten all A's and B's so far except for a C in math. whoops.

***I had a serious concussion before my junior year and as a result my grades plummeted and I have maybe four Cs on my junior year transcript, but my counselor rec denotes it as a medical reason (well, obviously lol)

At the end of the year I will have taken a total of 6 years of language -- 3 Honors french and Italian I - III (only levels offered in my school currently as it's a new program)

GPA - 88.2 (senior year: 89)
SAT I: CR-680, M-630, W-700 (1310/2010)
SAT II: English Lit-670, US History-600

Extracurriculars:
a) Community Service
- Girl Scout since second grade (pursuing Gold Award and I have my silver award)
- Sent shipments of Girl Scout cookies to Iraq as an independent service proj
- Interact club 10 11 12
- 4 years volunteering at the hospital
- Tons of miscellaneous community service

b) Athletics
- Field Hockey
- Lacrosse (soph yr only -- couldn't continue because of aforementioned concussion)
- Track (jr year)

c) Music
- Marching Band for 3 years (varsity letter)
- I've played the clarinet for 9 years.

d) Miscellaneous
- Global Connections Club

***i know that some of my extracurriculars are all over the place/don't show much commitment, but my big ones were girl scouts and interact, as well as the rest of the community service.

Leadership:
- Team leader for a CCD (confirmation) group
- Nominated for and attended the National Student Leadership Conference (Mastering Leadership) at the University of Maryland
- Girl Scouting awards and projects I guess. GSUSA denotes all awards as leadership.

Work Experience:
I have a part time job as a hostess at a local restaurant (15 hours per week, got the job in June and have been working there ever since)

Application:
Teacher recs: i didn't see them, but i'm assuming they were good.
Counselor rec: haven't seen it, but i know it explains the concussion predicament in detail.
Essays: pretty good, i think. writing is one of my strengths.
My common app was relatively fresh & creative, and my supplement essay was as well.
