Chances for Georgetown University?

I’m applying to the School of Foreign Service EA, hoping to major in International Politics.

Demographics: Bilingual Hispanic male, Puerto Rican/Cuban; competitive public high school with about 130 people in my class; (HS rated top 10 in state, top 100 nationwide).

GPA: 4.58 Weighted, 3.98 Unweighted.

Class Rank: top 8.3%; My school puts the same weight on dual enrollment classes at a local community college and AP classes, though, so there are a few students above me that had a less rigorous workload. (I hope this is addressed in my counselor rec letter, and I’ll probably put this in the “additional info” section).

Course load/AP Scores: AP Human Geo (5); APUSH (5); AP Spanish (5); AP World (5); AP Lang (5); AP Gov (5); AP Macro (4); AP Micro (4); AP Capstone Seminar (3); AP Calculus AB (3).
Currently in: AP Euro, AP Lit, AP Capstone Research, AP Psych, AP Calculus BC

Standardized testing: SAT Superscore: 1420;
690 Math, 730 English;
SAT II: 710 US History, 750 Spanish

GT requires that all scores from existing tests be sent

ECs: Student Body Pres (12th);
Vice-President of my class (9th-11th);
Spanish Honor Society Pres. (10th-12th);
Academic Team officer (10th-12th, it’s basically a statewide trivia contest);
Speech/Debate team co-captain (10th-12th);
County-wide Model Senate winner 2 years in a row (10th-11th);
I’ve played piano since I was 6 so I wrote my activity essay on that;
Volunteered at an elementary school science camp over the summer (11th);
NHS member (9th-12th).
Varsity swim team (probably not mentioning since it was only 9th grade)

Honors: Selected as Boys State Delegate from my state last year, (sadly cancelled due to COVID);
National AP Scholar (11th);
Perfect Score, State U.S. History Assessment (10th);
County-wide Model Senate winner 2 years in a row (10th-11th) (not sure whether to put this in honors or activities).
I also got a perfect score on the state-wide biology assessment, but I’m not sure if I should mention it as it doesn’t pertain to my major, plus it was freshman year.

Rec Letters: AP Capstone Teacher: It brought tears to my mother’s eyes.
AP Calculus teacher: Great as well, but not tear-worthy lol
I just realized these were the classes with my worst AP scores, not sure if that’s good or bad :stuck_out_tongue:

Essays: I think mine are solid, but I’m still tweaking them a bit in before I choose to send them. I think I struck a good balance between personal/analytical writing in my SFS essay :slight_smile: (the topic is about a current global issue and your solution to it).

Sorry that this is so long, I wanted to make sure I didn’t leave anything out lol thanks :slight_smile:

Yes you have a good chance. Don’t worry so much about your class rank as it seems you are. Statewide bio test not important. Letters of rec: it’s generally preferred to waive your right to see these, but if your teachers sent them to you that’s ok. Being student body president, etc is all good. Make sure you can give a good reason for “why Georgetown” implicitly and explicitly in your essays and interview. I’m sure you have one, but make sure you state it because while you are a generally strong applicant for any college, there’s nothing on your “resume” that necessarily screams GU specifically.
